Good Morning Everyone,

I recently purchased a 2015 Rogue and shortly before leaving the lot, noticed that the backup camera was loose. Apparently the housing wasn't secured to the bracket or something like that. They popped off the back and secured it somehow. It doesn't appear that the camera is centered or that the foam cushioning around the camera is equally distributed. The sales gal said that her main mechanic would be in the following week and to bring it back in then so they could repair it properly. Well, long story short, it still looks the same and the picture on the monitor is a little off in that I can see a little more on one side than the other.

My question is, does anyone know if a misaligned rearview camera will disrupt or cause problems with the around view monitoring system or any of the other safety features of the vehicle? I have another appointment next week to take the vehicle back in to get this resolved, but I thought someone here might provide me with some advise or point me to some documentation on how this might affect the system so that I can have it in my back pocket next week.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Welcome to NICO and congrats on your Rogue purchase.

I can't say this is something that I have heard about happening before, but mistakes at the factory do happen. Its unlikely that the back up camera is tied into any of the other safety features, but don't take my word as gospel.
Are you having any other apparent trouble with the other safety features?

I would guess you won't have any trouble with someone repairing it under warranty. And since it is a safety feature, they are required by law to repair it to 100% operational condition.

Pretty much what Ray said above - Take it back to the dealership and make them fix it. It's under warranty and it's brand new, so there's no need to even bother sorting it out yourself. I would think the back-up camera would cause the issue you're mentioning but with it being such a new model and feature there's no way of us knowing that for sure.

Take it back to the dealer and demand it be fixed right. If they don't get it fixed next time, start moving up the chain to the service manger and general manager of the dealership. I would think you wouldn't have to go much higher than that to get it sorted out.

Thank you both for the quick replies, I am scheduled to take it back in next week so we will see how it goes.

The backup camera is what is used FOR MANY OF THE SAFETY FEATURES. Around view , lane departure and blind spot. This will have been calibrated when it left the factory. If the camera wasn't installed properly at that time, and has been re-positioned when it was tightened at the dealer, it will need to be re-calibrated to insure that thew system is working properly.

YUP!
I'm surprised it didn't fail some kind of calibration if it was loose from the factory. I'm sure the plant would be very interested in the feedback from the dealers.

Hello,

I was reading the FSM manual, and i found that the camera is supposed to have a washer to clean-up the camera. Fro what i understood i works in conjuction with the rear wiper washer. Now here is the question is this feature standard on every rogue with back up camera or is just for the available for the one with blindspot, and lane departure. I tried to look for one in mine and could not find it. I put reverse to ge the camera activated and turned on the rear washer and i did not see any water runing. I do remerber that i read about this feature somewhere, probably the windown sticker

Just to follow up on this. I did finally get the issue resolved. There is a calibration that they need to perform to get all of the cameras and sensors synched. It did take some time and they dealer ended up ordering a new camera and mount and just replacing the entire thing. Thank you to everyone for their comments and suggestions. Hopefully no more issues develop.

Great to hear it got resolved.
ivan_2001VE- I believe the washer is only for models with aroundview monitoring, lane departure intervention, etc.
