Rear Axle Spline

I remember noting that there was a click under my car when i engage the clutch to start moving, and when i accelerate or decelerate. Well, that click got noticeably louder and apparent in 1 - 3 gears. I have a 2007 G-35 Coupe 6MT

Someone had noted that there was a TSB out for a rear axle spline lubrication for 2005 and 2006 Gs. This morning, i took my car in to the dealership and they regreased the rear axle spline under warranty. The clicking noise is no more---it is gone.

So, if you hear any clicking noise when you shift, accelerate or decerate, think about re-greasing the rear axle splines. The clicking is intermittent and can be inconsistent. But a good dose of grease will keep the G healthy and fine.

Something about factory installation has a lot a lot to do with this axle spine installation. Same thing probably led to the oil consumption issues where poor quality piston rings and poorly installed piston rings led to oil consumption. Seems infiniti mechanics are better at installing these parts than Infiniti assembly plant workers. A car part is partly as reliable as its installation.
