I need to replace my rear passenger axle seal and I was wondering if anyone had any tips, advice, special tool recommendations ect........I have read the fsm a few times and reviewed the diagrams frequently so I have done a little research.

It's not bad, you'll want to use a "drift" - a socket or round object the same diameter as the seal - to "knock" it or press it into place.

It looks like the bearing housing just unbolts from the axle once seperated from the dif shaft. It is my understanding that you can remove the bearing housing without opening the housing so nto to have to "renew" it as the fsm says and still access the outer seal.

Can anyone confirm this with experience?

No need for name calling.................by the way I posted in the Pathfinder/QX4 forum so one could be safe assuming that I am refering to the '97 QX4 that is in my signature. If I were refering to either of the Q45's in my signature then I would have posted in the respected forum. However as you can also see in my signature I only have a y33 Q as I sold the g50 q years ago so I also would not be inquiring about an axle seal on the G50. But no bother I can tell that any information that is gathered from you is a bit suspect considering that you could not determine which vehicle I was refering too in my original inquiry about the axle seal.

If there is any other "helpful" information concerning the axle seal by other members of this site would be greatly appreciated.

Check your HOTMAIL account for the stuff you seek. I sent you my Nissan Section on Axle service which is basically the same for most V6 powered Nissan trucks and SUV's up to 2004.
