Rear Axle Clicking

Hi M owners,
I just got my 2009 M35. I was going to get a G but I drove an M and that was it. I have the axle clicking problem and have read quite a bit about it. There seems to be two trains of thought on how to fix it, so I thought I would see what worked for other owners.

Method 1 - Pull the axles, clean and grease the flat surface behind the spines and put back together 180 degrees out.

Method 2 - Pull the axles, clean and use blue locktite on the splines and put back together.

My question - What worked for you. Or would you do both. I am a little leery of putting locktite on the splines if you needed to take It back apart at some point.
