Does anyone see a problem with switching out the rear brake systme on my s13 240, while still keeping the 4-lug pattern?

There's a problem w/ 300zx rear w/ 4 lug? I'm guessing the only problem would be getting the rotor redrilled because I'm runing 300zx rears w/ my lug right now.

The main problem is getting the ebrake to pull correctly. Mine currently only locks the driver's rear... ... gotta fix that as soon as I can.

O yea, of course . I was just naming 2 different issues. I don't like to go back and retype stuff I type. So sometimes it sounds retarded and confusing.

Yea, .

So..(for the sake of clearing confusion) the Z32 rear calipers and rotors will fit the S13 240SX as long as you have the 5-lug hubs and the proper emergency brake cable? What is the problem with the cable? Too short?

In order to use the 300zx rear brakes, you HAVE to use the rear emercengy drum brakes. There is no facilitation for an ebrake cable to be attached to the caliper. I belive the s14/naZ32 rear hub may be shorter and not allow for the drum brake. If not, it looks as if there would be no problem swapping in the 4 lug hub/bearing.

I have the whole Z32 brake assembly sitting in a bucket in my garage, I'll see how it compares with what I have on my car (stock brakes, s14 rear hubs).

I'll clear up the confusion:

All you need for the 300zx rear brakes are the rotor, caliper and conversion line. You do not need the e-brake assembly if you do not want an e-brake. You do not need the 5-lug hubs if you redrill the rotor to 4-lug. You can stay 4-lug and use the 300zx e-brake assembly if you want(that's what I have on my car). Hell, I used the 300zx aluminum upright and stayed 4-lug.

Not having a E-brake = very stupid (extremely even)

I know durring tech inspection for autoX they make me leave the car running and get out while they check the pedals. Wouldnt look good when the car starts rolling away. They call it the "emergency" brake for a reason, should your hydrolic system develop a severe leak, its the only thing left that can stop you safely.

If any of you do the rear conversion without the ebrake, I will smack you upside the head if we ever meet in person. It will be a freindly "I care for you" kind of smack.

i rolled around for a month or so with no ebrake, and I would NOT reccomend it. Trust me, you'll miss it when its gone, and if you are doing the rear z32 swap, might as well make it complete. It's not THAT hard to do. The hardest part for me was getting the cables spliced and everything working correctly. I'll be second in line behind j-spec to smack anyone who gets rid of their e-brake. If you're near charlotte, nc i'll help you install it and get it working.

Thanks, the e-brake thing is a no brainer. No idea why you want to ride around without it anyway . But thanks for clearing it up
