rear "300zx" tail light thing

Actually, GreatGonzer has stopped making them for a while. I was one of the last ones to get one made from him. Here is his amazing work:

They look pretty good in person. Not something I'd do on my car personally, but different no less.

Its not hard.... just a matter of clearning the 300zx symbol and backlighting. You could do it with any type of light

You can't really use any type of light as there is very very little room inside the panel where the "300ZX" lettering is. GreatGonzer uses and "EL Lamp", which is .008" thick.
