If that was the case, we would all be calling our 240's, "Silvia's"240sx_s13_902 wrote:anyone think putting a "Silvia" decal where the "240sx' goes on the rear is wrong in this application? when the car got painted the 240sx decal got cracked and i had an old "silvia" decal laying around i thought instead of going to the dealer and paying 35-$50, id just slap the silvia decal on, i mean its pretty close to a silvia now, car was imported from Kyushyu, Japan, ive done the DCC swap (will post pictures asap) and i think the only thing that is missing is the front end conv. and right hand driver. Is it wrong to call this a silvia? i just wanted to ask before i did something stupid. haha

i seriously cannot picture police giving tickets for having another badge on your car. What if you make your own badge for your car? They gonna tell ppl they cant put custom badges on their cars?Steady_One_S13 wrote:I'd stick with the 240sx decal. You don't wanna get pulled over, and have the 5-0 slap you with a fine. There's a reason why automobiles, here, in America have badges......for identification purposes. You get pulled over for running a red light; just an example. The cop looks over your ride and notices that the exterior badges do not match what your registration or insurance card says, then that cop could be an a** and write you a ticket. No matter your explanation, the toy cop is gonna cite you. Maybe the foo may be cool about it. Amuse the cop and give him/her a little background knowledge of your 240. This is about the factory badge, not a silly decal. I don't know how cops are in other states, but here cops can be cool or jerka**es. The majority aren't.Scuffed_ChukiCoupe wrote:

do whatever your little heart desires. who cares what anyone says or thinks about your car. you see it every day, and you drive it every day, make it so that it's what you want it to be and look like, not what a bunch of strangers on the net say. if you get trouble from the po-po, lesson learned, if not, good for you.240sx_s13_902 wrote:anyone think putting a "Silvia" decal where the "240sx' goes on the rear is wrong in this application? when the car got painted the 240sx decal got cracked and i had an old "silvia" decal laying around i thought instead of going to the dealer and paying 35-$50, id just slap the silvia decal on, i mean its pretty close to a silvia now, car was imported from Kyushyu, Japan, ive done the DCC swap (will post pictures asap) and i think the only thing that is missing is the front end conv. and right hand driver. So how exactly does that factor in for debaged cars??Steady_One_S13 wrote:

Not even close to the same thing. Cars are sold all over the world by different names but the car is identical (and screw the RHD/LHD argument) that is based on laws of the country the car is being sold in. A 240SX and a Silvia are identical chassis cars with different options and engines period.Shayl wrote:unless you own a silvia don't do it.Just as bad as non-M bmw's with M badges
They don't care. You can put whatever you want on there.Fieldy wrote:Maybe I'm ignorant to what goes on in your area.. but why would police hassle anybody about a sticker(decal) on the back of their car? Are bumper stickers illegal there? Is not having your vehicles make and model on the rear of the vehicle illegal too? These are serious questions as people have agreed with this. For all I care, you can write "Cockgobbler" on the back of your car. It's your car and you should do with it what you wish.
Ah... a ticket well welcomed. Your vehicle should be badged (whether it's a jdm or usdm on it, kit car, w/e). So, if your bucket has no badges... what then... is the 5-0 suppose to guess what you are driving? So, your guessing you won't get a ticket.ddgsxr504 wrote:

Cop on radio: "I'm in hot pursuit of a 1997 green Nissan NOTHING heading east on I-10"????? WTF That excuse is laughable at best.
