Hey guys hows it goin? Im very new to the Nissan Family. Recently, I purchased an 03 Xterra with the 4 cyl engine. A person from the Xterra board informed me that the 4 cyl engine on an xterra is tha same on a 240SX. I just wanted to confirm this.

I've never seen under the hood on a 4 cylinder, but it must be the old 240 / altima engine.

From nissan-usa.com -

" Xterra's 143-hp 4-cylinder engine delivers most of its 154 lb-ft of torque in the crucial low rpm range, which means plenty of kick off the line. DOHC design ensures efficient breathing to boost power and fuel economy."

&

"2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine 143 hp @ 5,200 rpm 154 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm"

It doesn't have the same power rating though. Probably made to give you more pulling power in the lower RPM's.

if i remember correctly, it's from the KA family, but I don't know if it's a 2.4 liter. don't quote me on that.

gearing and retuning moved the power band and hp/tq figures

Pretty sure it's the KA24DE.The SC'ed models come with a VG33ER, puting out a relatively pathetic 210hp.

The xterra inline4 is designated the TA5N, but has same displacement and bore & stroke of the KA

anything's possible, search around some xterra forums for more precise info though... the 240sx stuff won't fit your truck.;)
