Anyone else gettting really terrible gas mileage? I just bought a 98 and I'm getting 17. At SE-R.net they say you usually need a throttle body cleaning or a new oxygen sensor.

I also have a really stiff gas pedal, which I'm told is usually a throttle body problem too.

How do you check your oxygen sensor, and are they cheap?

Best to get new plugs, wires, cap/rotor, and CHECK YOUR TIMING. This is crucial, you will get super crappy gas mileage if your timing is less than the stock 20 degrees. I would replace the oxygen sensor if it hasn't been done already, that's a piece that is overlooked often and is $35 (from what i can remember for a BOSCH). Also, is your catalytic converter clogged? Tell-tale sign is egg-smell after hard acceleration (or not so-hard acceleration).

the 240sx (KA24DE engines) are rated to have 22 city and 28 hwy, this of course is an estimate, you may get worse or better depending on how you drive too
