So I picked up a new motor. I installed the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I tried to mount the trans to it and it won't slide in. I've done this plenty of times before and me and 3 of my friends cannot figure it out why they aren't mating. I feel like a complete moron for even posting this but hey maybe im missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Every other time I've done this it only took me a few seconds until I'm bolting it up.

i remember having a hard time too, i don't remember if we just wiggled it or what. Also, the pilot bushing that came w/my clutch (exedy) prevented the trans shaft from going in (bushing OD was equal to shaft diameter)

the new motor you got is it from and auto or manual car, it could have an automatic pilot bushing in it... dunno just a suggestion

I'm putting an exedy on mine too. Well, I went to get a pilot bearing puller yesterday because I thought i would try a different pilot bearing, after running around for about an hour I finally found one. And it doesn't fit. WTF.

Thanks for the suggestion but it was most likely from a manual car. I found a picture with an auto and manual one.

One more thing, the new pilot bearing i ordered looks exactly like the one in this picture, the one i cant get out now is smaller. Again, wtf?

dude i was stumped too. I didn't understand why (other than exedy sending the wrong pilot bushing). I have to put one in this week, so i'll just go to o'reily's w/the measurement and tell them to show me different nissan bushings to see if I find the right one.

Why not use the old bushing?

I have a couple pilot bearings, email me if you need one.To the op, put the trans into the clutch opening. And have a friend with a 27mm socket, turn the main crank bolt. While you tap in with a mallet. You can also try lifting up and down slightly. Depending on if the motor is in the car or not.

If its not the pilot bushing double check to make sure the clutch is aligned properly. Mine slipped and It took me awhile to figure out that was the problem. good luck.
