so i went to the servive center because my service light was on. I have 2400 miles on my car and they were gonna give me an oil change to. I find out theres something wrong with the Computer/wiring in the car and they dont know wats keeping the light on. So they send me to enterprise who then tell me that bc im only 19 not 21 i have to pay a $18 per day fee bc im under 21 i own the car and I bought it with MY money why do i have to pay for it???????? So because of this my dad now has to rent a car and get it for the time being until they fix my car.....So now i gotta roll around in an 02 crv ....kinda pissed bc that car sucks bc its so small and sluggish.

I dont get how they tell me they willl pay for a retal for me but yet they wont pay the $18 fee bc its an extra fee. Its not my fault that im young i just dont get why they dont pay for the rental for ME its MY car not my dads...

Has the engine lite/computer thing happened to anyone else

You have to pay that surcharge because of liability. Up here in Edmonton most rental places won't even rent to anyone under 21.. and if they do you're paying usually $30.00 a day as the surcharge.

so you want nissan to pay for your issue? not to be an arse.. but the dealership stinks man.. you know this... (it may be related to your hid/strobe install if not done properly, but i think it should have went off before now)

and that $18 fee is not the regular fee for under 21 drivers.. typically i think its btwn $30-50 a day in NYS... and in florida i think its like $100 or something like that....

You also cant rent a van if you are under 21 (figured this out when i rented the van for my nissan tech to drive to carlisle with all his crap in it, when i hit my bumper yesterday)

Nissan should pick up the entire cost if your car is under warranty that's total crap on the dealership, this is the type of stuff I like to exploit via local news......now if you want extra insurance on the rental, you have to pay that...you are lucky you can even get a rental, most places in the US its 25 and at least a fee at 21-25 and good luck getting a rental between 18-21

back home in texas i needed a rental one time when my old car was in the dealership for an overnight....i was only like 20 or 21.....they weren't gonna rent it to me but they ended up doing it anyways! but yeah i didn't have to pay anything but i do know that normally they don't rent to you if you are younger than 25 and if you are there is a fee...... but i do kinda agree that since the dealership has to keep your car that you should at least get either one of theirs or they pay for the extra charge....but have fun trying to get that outta them!!!!!

I'm not trying to be a d*ck but you don't understand how warranty works for a nissan dealer so i'll fill you in.

When you come in for warranty work nissan north america (not the dealer you take your car to) covers the rental fee. Now they are only willing to pay a certain amount per day, so say 30 bucks then your additional fee on top of that is not covered. Now it's not nissan north america's fault that you are not 21 and therefore encounter another charge.

Everyone on this forum gets pissed at nissan dealers but you guys don't understand the dealer is the middle man that catches all the sh*t from customers for rules they don't make. I know i'm a tech at one, people yell at me all the time, i didn't build the car so don't blame me for the problems that it has, just tell me and i'll try to fix it.

And you guys think getting something fixed under warranty s*cks try being the tech and getting paid under warranty. Nissan north america pays the dealership just like a customer does when you bring your car in to get fixed, but unlike a customer NNA doesn't pay for diagnostic time. So if you came in for a squeek or a noise, the tech looking at it isn't getting paid, he will only get paid for the fix. So say he looked at your car for an hour and found out that the exhaust bracket was making noise, he will only get paid for the replacement of the exhaust bracket, so probably a whole 10 min.

So please don't hate the middle man, hate the short japanese guy whose laughing is a** off to the bank.

I actually just rented a suburban for a roadtrip to Alabama from Florida for a wedding last weekend. I never want to go back to that state.....ever.....but thats another story.

Anyway, with me being 22 and under 25 they tacked on an extra $42 per day surcharge from enterprise. Over 4 days, that stuff adds up.
