i have a 91 240 and my coolant tank keeps draining out. i have done some research around the forums and i dont have any of the symptoms. i read that a blown or leaky head gastket would result in white smoke and overheating and loss of coolant. but i only have loss of coolant. there is no sign of leaking anywhere in the engine bay or on the ground under the car. the oil is not milky or anything. the performance is great. the only problem is the damn coolant tank keeps going low. i just filled it to max line and then i went for a drive for about 15-20 min. and then i came back and it was empty. but no overheating. really confused about this one. if anyone could please help i would really appreciate it. thank you

hmm, no sign of coolant at all under the tank? I'd eliminate the tank for sure by placing a paper towel under/around it to sopp up any leak. Is the fluid in the radiator dropping also, or does it stay around the neck of the filler(after it's cooled).

Well if you're 100% sure it's not burning it, and there's no drips/drops under your engine bay, the only other place I could think there to be a leak would be your heater core. When mine went in my Pontiac it was obvious: I smelt the coolant first inside the car, then when I pulled back the carpet under my feet/near the firewall it was wet. I have a feeling if you contined to drive w/out refilling the overflow, that your radiator level would drop too. Just be careful if you do this not to overheat/blow-a-moto.

I had the same problem. Mine was solved after I replaced my water pump. I couln't find any drips because it was sprayin all over and evaporating before I could see it. Maybe the same thing.

i would suggest turning your car on, and checking for leaks near your water pump. if you dont see anything rev it up from inside the engine bay (at the throttle body) then check again, more water would flow because its at higher rpm's i think.

make shure your car is fully warm when you do this, otherwise your thermostat will be closed and non water would be flowing so that wouldnt work ata all

Maybe you just had a bubble in your coolant system or lines and it has now filled up.

Also, coolant does not evaporate, so you will feel a soapy, slimy (not oily) coating on anything that is leaking. Plus, the part will be silghtly tinted the color of the anti-freeze you used.
