so i know for sure once my 240 is off the road when i get my new DD..im gonna want to go big and put in an rb..i've been studying up..and for what i want, it just seems like it'll end up paying off.

i really have my doubts about putting in used motors, so regardless..its going to be rebuilt...nothign major..but enough to know that its fresh..ya know?

so why blow a crap shoot of money on it anyways, does anyone know where i can find one with possibly a blown HG..spun bearing..somthing thats not going damage the motor permanantly, but will allow me to get it for a resonable cost..

any info would be pretty awsome, im at the point now where i can snatch it up and start working. but if not, thats ok, thanks for looking anyways

It doesn't make sense. Blown motors are not that cheap anyway. Finding one with a blown HG isn't going to happen. I wouldn't even touch one that spun a bearing- a rebuild that makes sense is going to cost at least $3.5-4k.

You want to start at a point where you know everything is running right. You don't want to start with a fresh rebuild and trying to get it to run right. There are so many issues with RB25's running properly and by going that route makes everything 100x harder.

Its always much mroe simple to troubleshoot a completely stock swap than one that has had modifications, internal or otherwise. I put a stock setup in mine to start with for this reason on the wiring and for me to get a feel of it in a 240. I do plan on buying just a longblock to build up now that I know my wiring and everything is spot on.

Also, even something that seems miniscule to cause engine failure can cause expensive damage either through scored cylinder walls, crank journals, etc, etc.

yeah rebuild will run you at least 4k which is the ball park i am in, sux just get one do a compression and leakdown test and do a mild break in on the motor (ie DONT WOMP ON IT) and you should be find

Yeah making a sacrifice like using a damaged motor to cut costs is a really bad idea..

..and then like everyone in the world will tell you, using a blown RB to make POWER without MONEY is seriously non existant.

KA-ET's make alright power without a lot of money, I suggest going that route.

get an engine from a reputable importer and seller and you wont have a problem, even if you do they will take care of you because some offer warranties.

well i would go snatch one up..but i haven't gone exploring that warranty..my car is not going to be anywhere near getting the motor in when i get it..it'll be a good 6 months before the motor will be shoehorned in..

warranty start AT start up..or as soon as you sign for it?

and i never said im gonna cut corners..when i say freshen it up, i litteraly mean stick the motor down..have it squared into spec..etc..etc..im used to sitting on something until its been done the right way, my friends hack their **** up to get it done..but you'll never see my ride in it..i dont feel like dying..they laugh when i tell them its gonna be 8-12 months before the car will be on the road again..

i make 800-1000 bucks a month..i cant afford mistakes..so i do it right the first time
