Hey all,

My y-pipe came in, and I was shocked about how cheap the y-pipe gaskets look and feel. They have cracks, are very brittle and feel flimsy.

Is this a problem? I don't feel very safe using these gaskets. Can anyone who has a y-pipe chime in on it? I'm thinking I should get new ones fabricated.

Thanks!

Maybe try and get one all rubber? They are definately not good if they got cracks... Did they come with your y pipe when you ordered it?

When I installed my Y Pipe they didnt come with the new gaskets yet. I just used some additional sealant and its good to go. I would expect you will have to do the same. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

I can say that when I installed my Borla exhaust I also purchased a new OEM gasket. That thing was like a piece of paper, so cheap and flimsy. The parts dude handed it to me and I was like WTF is this where is my gasket brah.

They are brittle in the sense that you don not want to bend them, however they are made from Flexible Graphite with a stainless still insert in the middle to aid in strength and bonding. They are quite resistant and seal extremely well when installed

Hmmmm, mine did NOT look like that at all. Is that new, right out of the box? It looks like its been used for a while and the some one had to use a flat screwdrive to chip it off the pipe. Mine was brand new and shiny even. Mine was also slightly thinner and a little differently shaped....But it's held up for a year and a half so far with no leaks. I may have slammed it with speed bumps 2 or 3 times, but its held up. Ugh, I love the sound. I know is a combo of things not just the pipes, but good lord its sexy. Now if I could just get you guys to send me a set of the blued slanted tips I would be an extra happy customer. You never did send me the 2 little bolts that were missing from the original tips. I have some Home Depo rigged crap twisted in there still from a year and a half ago.....
