so this is pretty dumb but i found a local 1988 300zx but its a ****ty project car.... but i wanna know if its at all possible to put a newer 300zx tt motor in it... and if not... what fast motors can i put in it?????

You could put a DETT in it, but it would definitely take a lot of money and work. For the power levels most people look for, the VG30ET is plenty strong enough. Many are in the 300-400 whp range on stock internals, some at 500 whp. I wouldn't bother with the DETT unless you're looking for a lot more than that... even then, the VG30ET had been built up to make over 1,000 hp for the GTP ZX and there is a 7 second Z31 running the VG30E, twin turbo I believe.

Just put the few grand you would invest in just getting the VG30DETT and you'll have well over 300 hp.

yup it fits, it's been done, both n/a and turbo 's have been done, the VQ35DE would be a good swap or you could take the real easy way and just do the VG30ET, come stock in 84-89 300ZXT's it's a bolt in swap (you will need the turco donor's crossmsmber) and capable of about as much power as the twin turbo dual cam version at a fraction of the cost and effort, RB's and SR's have all been done as well, if you look up AZ Zbums site he has a bunch of swap links, I'm moving this to the classic section where it belongs
