i installed some subframe spacers yesterday and all my wheel hop problems were solved, but then i took a sharp turn and something went wrong. now i have really bad wheel hop, but only from the passenger side rear of the car. all of the bushings look okay, but i guess it could be the upper mount. are there any bushings (or just things that can wear out) that would cause this? when i hit a little bump in the road the rear right will bounce for a while after the bump instead of just compressing when it hits it. i dont think it could be the strut itself because its only got about 8k miles on it, though there is an excessive amount of gunk on the outside of the tube (and there isnt any on the other 3).

anyway, just start naming parts that seem suspicious and ill start replacing them. ive had enough of this shoddy handling crap.

tim, since you're one of the OG ca forum guys I'll leave this in here if you'd like, but you'll probably get better response in the suspension forum. I'll move it if you give me the word

As Sean said, you'll get better response in the suspension forum, but to answer your question, It sounds like a blown strut to me buddy...

well, i checked it and it doesnt seem like its blown... i had my friend lean out the window while we drove around the other night and it doesnt seem to be anything bad. it looks like it bounces up and down just a tiny bit but since the car is so stiff it really translates throught the suspension.

i checked the bushings too and they dont seem to be in any kind of bad shape, so i really dont know what to think.

sean, if you think it should be moved go right ahead. i always just post in the CA forum because its the only one i really go to.

What kind of struts? I had a AGX blow on me a month after it was installed (rear right too) and it was because the piston had a nick on it (any kind of nick, scratch/etc will blow a shock) I found out about it after noticing a oil-rainbow sheen in the water when i washed the car. Its a general rule that if you hit a bump and the car keeps bouncing afterwards there is a blown shock somewhere. Get it replaced quick!

im not really sure what to think. it really only happens when i turn right and there isnt as much weight on the inside of the car. i guess im just going to take the opportunity (while i have a little time and money) to replace all the rear suspension components with aftermarket bits. if that doesnt fix it, i dont know what will.

you're strut is blown. it bounces because it is riding on the spring.

well, im not quite sure its a strut... when you push on the car it doesnt bounce like it would with a blown strut. i think im going to try replacing the top mounts in the rear with tein pillowball mounts. if that doesnt do it, ill get some new struts.
