HOLY SH*T! I didn't expect that great ball of FIRE! Hot-NAM! That Ferrari (I think?) looked pretty bad, hope the driver was OK. Good thing that the Porsche driver was ok also.

Man that Ferrari driver is a fighter. Tried to get up after that mess. Looked like he was ready to kick some a$$ or somethin'. Glad he's OK!

I think that ferrari guy has his head messed up. When he tried to get up it looked like he may have suffered from a concussion or something by the way he moved. How fast were those guys driving? Wth is wrong with that guy? He just ran right off the road and into the Porsche when no one was even near him.

thats NUTS, im so glad no1 died, i thought for sure he was dead... shows the power of automotive saftey technology, crazy stuff... the grounds crew shouldve pulled him out of the car alot sooner than they did.... thats just not acceptable.

Holy crap...every time I see its I'm still in awe. I heard it took 90 seconds for them to get the guy out of the car, and that the driver that was stuck in the car sued the track for negligence and won like 90 million.

Actually, I think he won 90 million YEN, not dollars. I forget the exact figure but he ended up getting like $950,000 USD.

I'm still trying to figure out the reason that the explosion was so severe. I assume they must have been in a warmup lap or something as the cars were pretty well grouped together. Do you guys think it was the Porsches's tank that was the cause of the fire? I can't tell which Ferrari that was, so was it a MR or an FR layout? That was still a pretty hellatious explosion. You don't see much stuff like that in the ALMS (At least I haven't). Maybe we've got stricter safety regulations over here...

yeah they do a warm up lap then a start just like the DTM cars and I believe the SCCA do too, if I'm not mistaken. I read a bunch about this a while ago.

Anyway sometimes freak accidents occur and fuel gets ignited. I'm sure the cars have stringet safety regulations just like ours. In fact I bet they studied why the fire occurred and it probably resulted in some new safety standards.

The ferrari is MR and has the fuel cell mounted in the front.
