If its cleaned up nice you coukld fetch a pretty penny for it. I just flipped a 98 q45t for a $1200 profit. Snagged it from a guy for $2300 and found someone who fell in love with it like i did with my 99 who offered me $3500. All i did was clean it up fix a couple little things that didn't cost me a dime and sat on it for 2 weeks.

I found that once someone knows what kind of cars these are they fall in love with them.

- ya very far & few between,,,,,,

personally i wudnt touch a Q for flipping - ya i love them in a strange way, why i dont know, had them since 1998, i flip hondas all the time, cheap cheerful, good on gas cheap ins -

theres no demand for 1990-2001 Q;s anymore. All those who did like them have moved on to 2003+ now and for someone to fall in love in older version like you sold, EVERYTHING gotta be perfect - too expensive! Power steering pump, belts hoses, radiator, tires and tensioner service items on mine last year alone cost me a fortune, that not counting MAF that just went a$$ up last month.

Apart from the infi-o-philes on here Q have always been under the radar - just try selling your fully maint Q on this board, bunch of cheap a$$'es. I donate mine one day, maybe to infini guy, at least i know her parts will go to good use, he'll have to promise not to give parts to bcc and q brew thou :inoutgay:

That is deffinatly true. I was shopping for an A6 or a 5 Series Bimmer when I found my Q. I looked past it and the wife said I really like that one. Picked it up for $3300 and have loved it ever since.

Happy friday guys ;)

back to the topic...

I paid (or overpaid) for mine b/c it was EXACTLY what I wanted, Ivory Pearl (90-93) w/ updated guides and like new rims and brand new tires (which were around 2k), 1 owner - all records

paid $4500 last summer - '92 Q w/ 85k original miles, mint paint, mint interior
updated guides
previous owner replaced injectors (later found out they are still phase 1, putting in phase 2 injectors from a low mile '95 now actually - got them flow tested and cleaned by Deatschwerks, tested within 1.6% at full flow/ stock fuel psi, whoohoo!) Can't wait to put them on as I have an injector out now, sucks!

car had some quirks, but nothing major

I sold my pristine 94q with 61k miles about 2 years ago for high blue book..... $3400. It sold quickly at that price but had I have tried to get more for it any potential buyer would only have offered only high KBB. It's a shame since a similar condition/year/mileage LS400 would have been priced for probably $6000.

I have been long into these cars for a long time (meaning money invested in it far out weighed ins value). Until recently resale/ins value bothered me, what i had into the car far ( I mean far) out weighed the insurance assessed pay off value. That pay off value is linked to a real world resale value of the car. For me the issue was fixed by sourcing two 'rolling wrecks' rather than the guaranteed insurance sum assured. Of course not everyone has the luxury of storage or the ability to perform body repair so this would not an option. I have long since dropped comprehensive cover - insurance highway robbery!

Additionally for the last 3 years i have only to put $$ into Q3 from monies made on other projects. I can only dream of getting 3400 for mine, yes folks admire it and say they can't believe its 20 years old, but money wise when I say make me an offer, $2500 always ensues. Yes i m gradually letting her go, mechanically near perfect, its her body beginning to show signs of age, the cost of the paint job i want to do is 3k and that's with me doing it myself (trim, glass etc removed). Not worth it, not now anyway.

It seems this model has hit its bottom (15-20 years) but will we ever see them begin to appreciate like some of the Detroit 60 & 70's iron? Granted those cars would have to be in pristine condition (like most of the owners cars on here)but does the fact its Japanese and mid 90's relegate them to also 'rans' with barely a mention in our automotive history?
Seems low survivor rarity count does warrant some value, but only to those who already owned one, not to the general 'mecum' population. Does anyone think these will be collector cars at 30+ years old?

Its sad to see that beautiful Q on Ebay go for so low. If I had the space and money I would have wanted it. It was just perfect. Someone really got lucky!

I keep thinking that my Q's are worth nothing to your average car buyer. But to a connoisseur they are worth a lot more. Hell my Active Q which is leaking again (Damnit) was worth 55K or 56K back in 1994, I have the window sticker along with most of the records.

Reliable and extravagant transportation if you maintain them,

I could use a black one to compliment my Pearl Q

Still amazes me how these 20 year old cars are at least comparable to luxury sedans that came 10 years later (like my E38).

~ not sure it sold Paul - looks like it did not reach its reserve - watch that space, it may sell dirt cheap on next ebay listings - remember superhuber's lovely purple Q? If it goes for 2200 lets make sure it goes to a great home ;)

So rabsusa and BCC93QT are both banned because they can't contain their E-hate.

I think in the 11 years I've been a moderator, these 2 guys are the 3rd and 4th people I've ever had to ban.
