Back in '04, I was about 15 and I've never heard of drifting, and my little brother came home from best buy with this DVD...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/On+the+Scen ... &lp=4&cp=1

Even though the drifting was cool, I still thought the cars themselves were more interesting. I didn't know what Koguchi's red car was until about 2 years later when I was suprised with a $200 S13 hatchback as my first car, by coincidince. The thing was a tank, and an awesome car that taught me to drive 5 speed and start working on cars. I've been obsessed with the S chassis ever since. I love them, and think about them almost non-stop. College didn't really help the problem because I was a Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering major, I got the nickname MikeSX because it was pretty much all I wanted to talk about, and my little tuner crew had 3 Mikes in it haha.

I have always had a brand loyalty towards Nissan :) , My father and his family moved here in the U.S. from Costa Rica in a 1972 Datsun 510 wagon :yesnod . So Nissans have always been in my blood. And back in 2000 or so my brother got a 300ZX TT :naughty: I absolutely fell in love with that car. From there I had to have me a 2door, RWD sports car. I wanted an S13 hatch so bad but I really didn't have a choice in my first car, I was 18 when my parents bought me a 2002 Jeep Tj in 2008. From there I bought me a 280Z as a project car, I got that in 2009. Sold the Jeep last year and bought me a 95' "Kouki" I wanted something that was easy to work on, fun to drive, cheap to fix, and just get me better gas millage then what I was getting in my Jeep. I would still like to get me a S13 hatch someday :yesnod

Well, essentially , i've had a few Datsun z's, and a few 510 wagons over the years. And coming from a datsun , the next up thing would naturally be a 240sx. So i've always been a fan of nissan. But, in reality, it doesn't matter what your excuse for having one is, you've got one, and you enjoy it. Who cares?

if you didnt own one in the 90's then you could be lotted in with the bandwagoners by someone..just how it is. same with drifting, the jdm craze, all that stuff.
if you didnt know about drift in the 90's then you are a fanboy. if you didnt have japanese domestic market dash clocks or arm rests or side moldings or headlights before superstreet went nuts about it, then youre a fanboy wannbe wagpon jumper... see what im getting at? its not worth wondering about, no one cares really man. it doesnt matter whos who or when they did what...

Im 22 and Im not going to lie, I got a s13 because I saw it on Initial D and I only wanted to get an S13 because of the blue sil-80 and I thought I would be original if I had a silvia front end(I'm a big anime nerd).... but this was 9 years ago but I dont think the "240sx" thing was really popular back in 2003 but I dont remember my high school years. I dont have a sil-80 but I think I got pretty close with my high school dream lol.

I really wanted to make a sil-80 because I thought it looked really cool. Now kids just get 240sx just to build a trash drift car

hehe true true.

I've actually seen a decrease in the number of 240s I see. I used to see more S13s and the rare S14. But I've only seen 1 S13 in the past 9 months or so.

I was racing a 85 200SX circle track in 2002, when I got the chanch to pick up a abandoned 240SX in a trailer park, free. It was so damaged I ended up buying another 240 from a junkyard for 500, and used the origional as a parts car. I prepared the car over the winter of 2002-3, and started racing it the 2003 season, and it has been a winner ever since.

Still racing a 240, though with the 2nd body, 35 wins so far, at 4 different tracks. Lonesome Pine Raceway, Coeburn ,Va, Kingsport Speedway, Newport Speedway, those are in Tenn., and Orange Co. Speedway, in N.C.,

I've went thru 5 240s as parts cars, and am about to get another.

I first was interested in the 240sx sometime back around '92 or '93. My aunt had an 89 coupe and it was the first "sporty" car that I knew, and I always got such a kick out of riding it it. I also thought that the auto seatbelts and the pop-up headlights were the coolest things ever .

Finally, the summer before last my dad called and told me that he had met some guy who had an old hatchback in the yard. When my dad asked him how much he was asking and the guy said he just wanted it out of the way. I had been looking for something that I could learn on and when I saw that $200 price tag, I jumped on it.

I don't that I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I never paid any attention to drifting before, and even now just I view it as something that I may try if I have the opportunity right in front of me.

some people might think that im just on the "bandwagon" because of my age, im 20 and i just got my s13 about 4 months ago but i have a nissan head since i ever wanted a car. the Skyline was a dream to me! i knew i probely would never get one but i fell in love with the style of the 240sx and the 300zx i didnt care which one i got cuz to me they were both amazing cars. since the 240 was cheaper then the 300 and that it didnt have as many problems as the 300 either it was always my first choice. i mean i work a the preimer nissan dealership in san jose and my parents got me a 2010 altima coupe but i told them i wanted to buy my own car and the altima isnt wat i wanted. i know people might say im spoiled but i made the chioce to get my own car and have no one to help me out buying it and i did and ive been in love with my 240 ever since, i never plan to get rid of it, always and forever my first car!

Didn't know what a 240 was until I played NFS Underground 2 back in '07/'08. I didn't take a liking to the car until last year, and my final decision for getting one was because it looked nice to me and theft rate was lower than Hondas.

Going on about a decade now with my kouki, not ashamed to admit I knew nothing about the 240 until I saw one on Initial D, loved the look. My previous vehicle was a 67 chevy c10 and wanted something with a lil better gas mileage, I was getting 10mpg at the time. Missed having a truck so I picked up my datsun recently.

Seeing her driving today reminds me that a neighbor adjacent to me is the first owner of the first 89 240sx in the bright red sold in my area. Still 5speed still sounds and looks amazing.

Note to everyone else, being retarded in holding on to a car doesn't always qualify as bandwagon, but in this case...

Yeah I guess they finally figured out they can make more power RWD so... yeah. ;)

Seen a lot of stolen cars on this Forum lately. When I get my car home I'm gonna have to barricade it at night with other cars, unplug fuel pump until I get my alarm fixed and quick release. :(

Haha you just had to say it, because it appears to me that I may be on the verge of a blown headgasket as well :gotme . Back on topic, coming out of highschool, I was in search of purchasing my own car for myself, and RWD was looking the way to go with my interest in the drift scene. Also out here in LA, you see way more little honda heads and acuras than anything, and I always the type of kid who never followed the crowd, and the more I looked into 240's, I was hooked, each model has its own potential I saw in them, and I patiently waited and found my Hatch!

I blame a friend of mine for my addiction to RWD cars and motorsports.

I started working at a hobby store, and thank god my soon to be friend did too. I just knew about some nissans and in particular my maxima I'd just bought from my mom. (A perfect 90 se- I miss it still). He asked if I knew what drifting was. I had no idea. Or if I had seen it in person (of course not). He had a basic NA FC with a diff for a daily driver at the time, and demonstrated right there in our work parking lot. The marks were there for 2 years till they paved the lot lol.

I traded a few cars off till I met the admin of the local drift forum, and he traded my mazda mx3 for a decent S13 hatch. And its snow balled from there. Ive had like 6 or 7 240's since, along with 5 maxima's, and I just picked up a Z31 turbo last weekend.

Honestly I think I'm way a head of the bandwagon. I'm not in it to copy any one. Inital D, D1, etc etc. I just want to go have fun at the track in any form. Drifting, track days, autox, and 1/4 mile once my car is faster then 13seconds (lol).

I never even knew what a 240 was. I didn't even like cars really. When I turned 16 I just wanted something I could get in and drive. Well with my parents having bad credit and what not I was on my own to find my own car. My buddy that I worked with owned a little 93 Honda Civic Del Sol Si (RIP) that he was selling because he was getting rid of that and his four runner to use as a down payment on a 05 scion tc. Had the Honda for 8 months and then I slide into a rail on a bad snowy day. I was car less again. This same buddy had been talking about this 240 since I met him and I still didnt really know what it was. Well it had been sitting in his garage for years since he threw a rod and never got around to fixing it. He didnt want to let it go but he realized he was never going to do anything with it and sold it to me for 300 bucks. No rust or nothing just needed a new engine. So I start doing a little digging around since my Del Sol got me into cars a little bit. I found out everything that people do to 240s and I just fell in love. Ever since I have been reading about all kinds of different cars and am huge into cars in general but Nissans are what I love to own myself. Still have that very Nissan from 4 years ago. She has came along way since then. My love for cars grows everyday and right now I am trying to make a deal with a local guy for a 1979 Datsun 280zx with 56k original miles.
