ive noticed that when my car has been out of action for a week or two right when i start it, it makes this incredibly high pitched squeel that i think is probably belts. cars been running for a while now but after a hard run tonight it did it again for a minute and then stopped. heres the questions portion of our discussion.

does this sound like accessory belt symptoms? im going to doulbe check my timing belt tension but i dont think its the tbelt.

are squeeky belts usually caused by too loose or too tight tension?

probably in the faq but while were at it, are 88 pulsar nx se p/s and alternator/waterpump belts the same for rwd ca?

thanks any help appreciated

Check and see if your belts are just loose before replacing them. Here:

Alt Belt 4pk855 $9.99PS Belt 4pk845 $8.99AC Belt 4pk840 $8.99

so looseness causes the squeel, not too tight?

More likely being loose will cause it but overtightening them can do it too. They have to be extremely tight to squeel though.

My girlfriend makes a high pitched squeel after a hard run...

But seriously, I had an issue once where my front oil seal was leaking and some oil got on the inner-most belt (on my pulsar). There was a ever-present high pitched squeel. So check the belts for wear on the inside, check the toghtness of the belts no more/less than 1/8 inch movement. and then look for oil on one of the pulleys/belts.

My belts on my KA started squeeling after and autox, just tightened up the next day, perfectly fine now. Thats most likely all you'll need to do.
