Hey guys,

I put new bridgestone 245/17 about 5 months ago and had about 3-4K on them. Last week I took a good look at them and was shocked that the inner side on both front tires had all the pattern shaved. Wow, with this tempo I will need to buy the entire tire company altogether to keep driving my Q.

I went to alignment place (they are pretty popular and do lots of alignments) and they said that my alignment is within specs but my camber is slightly negative. When we looked at the car the wheels are straight and you don't see any anomalies. Also, they said they cannot adjust the camber and that it is fixed.

When I turned my steering wheel all the way to left I noticed at that position the from right wheel was kinda inclined making more contact with the road with inner side of the tire. Is it possible that only during turns I rub the inner side more excessively?

I have about year old springs (from Joe) and about 30K on tokicos but the suspension is tight (the shop confirmed that there are no signs in suspension).

Please help. Any thoughts, ideas, comments ... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,Andre.

High Caster adds camber in turns.....................tires must be designed to survive this situation. Why I only recommend Michelin especially on front of 90-96Q.

BMW and Mercedes heavy cars have/had the same situation.

When Infiniti changed suspension in 97 they improved the situation for tolerating mediocre tires.

Important to make sure that the front camber is PERFECT STATIC at no more than -0.7 degrees and both sides are equal.

You use adjustable upper links or new oem upper links and shim the rear of mount to shock tower [to correct for bending inward over the years].

You don't mention current alignment measurements. You should have a printout of before and after along with specifications.

I would suspect excessive postive toe out. Only takes a little to wear the inside of front tires quickly.

Tires should be 255/45-17 if your wheel width will support it.

will an adjustable tension rod be a fix? (but got to use adjusties for the upper link too i guess, )

The adjustable tension rods are used to set the caster equal side to side and to compensate for crowned highway drift.

A real car all bent up from miles of highway abuse needs everything adjustable................or frequent parts replacement.

New spring connotates that it has been lowed? If correct of course you need to remove at least - 0.93 of the negative camber that added!

Actually, the springs are OEM from Joe. I would think this should reduce the wearing. Things I replaced in front suspension during the last three years (30-40K) are tension rods, sway bar, struts, springs, and that's about it. Besides tokicos everything is OEM. I think in the shop they said my camber was -0.9 but no visual observation of it (wheels are straight). So, what can I do? Adjustable upper links? The thing is really during the turn of wheel that I see drastic incline ... will adjustable upper links solve it?

Thanks,Andre.

Andre, we (and you also) need the before and after specifications from the alignment.

The upper mounting bracket and be shimmed out with washers or maybe a 300ZX kit to correct for excessive negative camber.

But we (as do you) need all the data first.

What were and are your front toe specifications in particular?
