Hi everyone,

At 40 (can you say mid-life crisis...), I just bought the car of my dreams and it is a 1994 204 SX convertible. As I live in Amsterdam Holland and as the car was never sold here, it was quite a hassle to get it accross the pond.

Anyway, now that it is here and mine, I just found your club and just joined. It seems like it is a great source of info. So here is my newbie question: are the 240 SX and S13/S14 the same car? I am a bit confused about this.

The s13 is from model years 1989-1994. The convertible was only made in 93 and 94 if I remember correctly. Also, the s13 came in a fast-back (hatchback) and a coupe. Both of which had flip-up lights in the front, but different tail lights. The s14 was from model years 1995-1998 and look completely different from the s13. 1995-1996 s14's had non-projector square headlights, where as the '97-'98 s14's had angry-looking "shark-eyes" headlights that were projector. Hope this helped you out

thanks for correcting me, I've only owned s14's so I'm not too sure on all the info for s14's. I don't want to be giving out bs answers. Thanks again!

All 240sx's in the US had pop-ups. Silvias in Japan had non-popup, 180sx's had popups. In '96 Nissan produced very few sil80's with the rear body of the hatchback and the nose of the silvia (rare *** car, though the non-factory conversion is quite common). I don't know about the euro 200sx's. Where did you get your convertible from??

Thanks for your quick reply nissan_s13_hb!

I bought the car from a guy in Canada. The strength of the Euro over the Canadian dollar made it more affordable. He was supposedely the 2nd owner. Anyway, it has now started a new life in Europe. I am kinda hoping that there are not too many over here...at least I have never seen one here yet.

Cheers!

thanks for the feedback. I am amazed at how quickly I got a response. Anyhow, it is nice to know that I have an S13 in addition to a 240sx...kind of 2 for 1!

I attach herewith a picture of my new baby taken just as I got it out of its overseas container at the port of Rotterdam.

Noob

(for how long does one remain a " noob" ?)

was it the appeal/rarity of the convertible? If I remember correctly, 200sx's w/turbo engines were offered in many parts of europe...

You know what Chingon, you may be right. I will have to investigate further - maybe the 200 was indeed available. As far as the 240sx vert, I have not seen any yet. When I finally get through all the registration bureaucracy, I will pay a visit to my friendly neighberhood Nissan dealer and inquire further about past models.

And indeed it was the attraction to the convertible - people here in the Netherlands are going kind of "vert" crazy at the moment. Must of been that record breaking summer last summer that got everyone going...as far as this summer was concerned, suffice to say that it was "moist".

Cheers
