Hi All,

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an '06 M45 purchase in the next 30 days. I've been searching and have picked up lots of useful information already. This is really a very comprehensive forum, and loaded with good info/members.

I have a few questions before I make my purchase. In no particular order, here they are:

1. Does Infiniti allow you to purchase an extended manufacturer's warranty if the vehicle you purchase is still under the 4 years/60k warranty?

2. Are there different levels of extended warranties?

3. Are there any areas of concern on these vehicles that necessitate a trip to the Infiniti dealer for examination before purchasing?

4. Would you consider purchasing an '06 M45 with under 40k that has not had dealer maintenance?

I welcome any and all input. I'm looking at 2 vehicles right now (one local, one about 400 miles away) that are both under 40k in mileage, and right at $26k in price. Both are loaded Sports with Nav, camera, etc. The only real difference is in color (one is Liquid Platinum, the other is Obsidian)

Thanks in advance!

Hello,Welcome to NICO.1)Yes, it is possible to add a Infiniti extended warranty only while under the factory warranty.

2)Yes, I heartily recommend the Infniti Elite warranty. Zero deductible and coverage of the nav/audio system. These are not covered under the regular extended warranty.

3)Yes, a PPI (pre purchase inspection) should be considered mandatory. If the car has a rebuilt title for instance you will have no warranty coverage whatsoever. Absolute must for a car that originally cost 50k.

4) NO. There is no way I would purchase this expensive a car without factory service records. I spent thousands more to purchase a CPO. Many people who lease do not treat their cars much better than a rental car. Major problems will be more likely to manifest after extended warranty lapses.Cheers,ML

I have to agree with Mark. The 06+ M is my personal favorite Infiniti and the price seems pretty decent. Since there are almost twenty control units and tons of high speed CAN lines a dealer check up would be highly recommended, make sure you ask your service adviser what the current status of your factory warranty is (they can look it up on InfinitiNet and see the status and if any work has been done at any dealer nationwide). I have seen so people skimp on the extended warranty and get burned if in the unlikely event that something goes wrong. Infiniti Elite ext. warranty is the way to go, I'm not sure what the cost difference is between that and the competition but I know they are much less of a pain as they will pretty much cover just about anything with out and issue. Have fun with the new ride, if you do in fact pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

do you have a ballpark for what is a good price and any documentation on what it really covers? appreciated.
