I have an '89 180SX. From what I have read I need 'NON ABS' 93 altima rotors and 93 MAXIMA pads. Can someone confirm this?

I'm going with Hawk HPS pads, and was thinking Brembo blanks. Is there any real advantage to brembos? If they are blank and the same size rotor, wouldn't an OEM replacement perform just as well?

First off, awesome choice with the Hawks. I used to run the cheapo Autozone pads with the lifetime warranty and was getting extreme fade after a few hard stops.

I switched over to the HPS's, and that all changed drastically. Today I locked up my fronts at 95mph, and Im running Falken RT-615's (a very sticky street tire). That should tell you how they perform.

As far as the Brembo rotors, Im honestly not sure. I went with the OEM replacements and the only disadvantage so far is that the hub surface (not touched by the pads) gets some ugly surface rust whenever they get wet. Its easy to wipe off, but a pain in the *** to do everytime I wash the car. Other than under EXTREME heat and track abuse, I cant see any other reason to run Brembos with such a price differance. Maybe somebody else that runs Brembos can chime in on their experiences with them..

Well i bit the bullet and ordered the hps pads and brembo blanks. I'll post a review of breaking impressions after the install.

I've searched and read a lot about pads recently because I'm upgrading my brakes soon. I was going to get HPS or Hawk, but saw many people comlaining about them generating too much dust. So, I decided to go with Project Mu. Initial bite is good and not too much dust... Anyone has any input on this?
