94q with 243,000 miles with original transmission and engine. I am ready to get a low milage used engine and transmission. I want to upgrade the perfomance on my car but not with the old engine and transmission. Any ideas

I would be really, really tempted to go with a new crate engine off of eBay... seems like they were selling for $1500... then maybe a level 10 rebuild on the transmission?

Yo, Vinny! After that get some wheels with less mass for greater performance.

As Heath said, there's a "new in crate" VH45 on ebay from a guy in Cali, get that and swap (from yours)/replace as much as necessary to install. As for the transmission, there are used ones on ebay from time to time, and I think jamesmost has one ... or at least a TC.

What kind of budget are you setting aside and will you be doing the swap your self?

Are you going to be doing the work yourself? If not, it could easily be that much for a JDM takeout/refurb/re-install.

I have a trans out of my 95 Q at my buddies transmission shop, i want 150 for the trans $250 W/ A BRAND NEW STOCK CONVERTOR his performance rebuild costs around $1,800. the trans he built for me is mad wicked. Why? That enigne is just now getting broke-in.

I know what you mean. I would love about 450 RWHP in Layla.

Here's what you do:Buy a Rousch or GM crate engine and have a custom driveshaft made. It would be about $15 to $20 Grand, but that is what you would spend for a new crate engine, Level 10 transmission, and a supercharger or turbocahrger.

Just kidding.

Just to clarify for people...

As you can see hes got some high miles going on his Q..... Basically he wants to replace the engine before it fails, even though right now his engine runs OK. hes got some stuff he hasnt done yet, like knock sensors, plenum, and the turbine sensor went bad...

What hes looking for is suggestions for someone to do the work around the atlanta area.... He knows T3 is good, but is there anything else in the area that is good as well????? How about importers in that area???
