Is it just me, or does anyone else have difficulty reading the dipstick on a Nissan Murano. Mine is a new 2007 and with the angle it goes into the hole, it is almost impossible to read where the level of the oil is. Anyone have a suggestion on this, or should I just fill with the amount of oil specified in the manual?

This is common problem with the Murano.

The best way to do it is to make let the car sit for a while to let the oil in the heads drain down, then make sure the dip stick is carefully dried with a clean towel, and hold the stick horizontally while reading the level.

It's not easily read, but it can be done.

Factory Service Spec for oil is 4 and 1/4. To read the dipstick, pull it out and clean it insert and remove quickly, usually works. I work at a dealership and this method works for me.

Isen't this a shame that we cannot read a simple oil dipstick, that we have to even take it to a dealer and have them TRY and read it,I thenk we beter start looking to see what Politition was taking care of when they let these Foren cars into this country that only the Makers can read it and a simple Wiper blade that they the Dealers want $150.00 just to replace them .

Wiper blades for the Mo are readily available anywhere wiper blades are sold, and take only a few seconds (without any tools) to replace yourself. Front blades, that is. The rear one takes a few minutes to replace (it's way easier by taking off the entire rear arm assembly, though I've heard of people doing it with the arm assembly still on the car), and that blade DOES need to be purchased from a Nissan dealer.

As for the dipstick, I've never had a problem reading the oil level on mine.

I found a 2003 Nissan Murano and bought it a few weeks ago. I have always thought the cars looked nice and it was a good price.

You have got to be kidding NISSAN DEALER person saying you have no problems whatsoever reading the level of the oil. So there is no true way of stopping this vehicle and actually reading the oil in a warm engine, that has been sitting 1/2 hour? I changed the oil and wow you know maybe I was wrong about foreign built cars, maybe they aren't as good as every one says...this is a simple task.

The problem I see with the dipstick #1 is the design. #2, the hashmarks are not deep enough to pull the oil up to actually see where it was sitting.

IT appears that NISSAN hasn't paid attention from 2003 and never fixed the simple problem.
