Read this. Supposedly a "riced" 300zx

That car seems to have no cosmetic work done to the body, and the only mod i can see is exhaust. How is that 4 rice stars out of 5!?

actually the front bumper and the rims look after market to me, but i think it looks good, and i wouldn't call it rice, some people just like their cars to look good and arent worried about speed. anyways its not like he has decals or a big $@# rear wing or anything.

It's because it's in Massachusetts....I don't think there are that many Asian people there probably. Anyhow, the same goes for anywhere there's an import...people will always call fixed-up imports "rice" or "rice rockets" because I think the general misinformed public associates "rice" with "Asian cars"....

I used to live in a small town in connecticut, almost no asian people, or foreigners for that matter. I used to drive my dads 1986 mazda hatchback, have no idea what the model was, which a lot of the kids in my school called rice, rice rocket, rice burner. But thats what they referred to any japanese car with, if you had an NSX they'd still call that rice.

i have not been to many small towns...but the ones that i have been to usually have 4x4's or v-8 muscle...that may be why

is it just me , or does the site seem to be run by a kid?there are other sites out there that look at the whole car, interior and engine , then body to determine if it is riced or not.

if a car has aftermarket rims and lights and exhaust, does that make it rice? what about engine mods? does a intake and header constitute rice? wahat if u have a civic ex and u changed everthing on it to Type R specs, then added teh type R badge, did u rice out your car?

me thinks the word rice is being thrown around alot without proper thinking. I cant comment on a car without first evaluating all the aspects of the car.

sure, 3 years ago a big @ssed wing was int "IN" thing to do, along with a HUGE non functional body kit. Apparantly times have changed and no one told these peeps. But some o these cars with only tail lights, and intake , like my civic, are called rice mostly because its a civic. makes me sick.

anyway, what was my point? If one of u find it, tell me.....................

i somewhat agree with you, like i previoulsy said in another post, i dont dislike the actual car(honda) itself, it s just too many people have them and are having just intakes and tail lights(no offense) and going around racing people and bragging about their cars, and you have to admit, some of the worst offenders are civics, in my opion its fine to put a kit and spoiler on a car to make it look good, just dont put a racing kit/spoiler if your not going to race it , and also this is a nissan forum so of course we are going to hate on the anti-nissan competition .

u make a good point nissanrcer240, but I like the touring look. The way the cars look in the JGTC is just right for me. (without all the sponser ads and stuff though). Even though my car may not see that much track race time, just having a car that's better than stock, it doesnt have to be better than the other guy on the street, is good enough for me.

for example, the only thing on my civic is green stuff brake pads, and an AEM cold air intake ( I got he intake to change the way my car sounded cause i knew it wouldn't do **** to HP or Torque). I'm happy with it and i surprise quite a few peeps who think its just another civic when they look for an exhaust but can't find the source of the deep growl the intake makes. I know I don't drive a sports car or a race car and i dont try to prove that I do. I drive an econo box. I couldn't find a S14 when I was shopping around so i got a civic cause it was second on my list.

e.g On my way back from New York ,i came up on 3 modified cars. A del sol - big wheels, intake and no muffler, big TACH over the steering wheel, A FOCUS, big wheels, exhaust, neon lights all over, body kit, and a toyota matirx tricked out to the hilt, with a list of mods down the driver side door.

after they flew by me at 80, i caught up to then to check the cars out. now it was night, and i drive a black 4dr civic with 205 tint, so u can hardly see anything, BUT you can hear my intake when i step on it. needless to say, hte del sol flashed his high beams 3 times and took off wiht his buddies following. I was able to catch them at 90 and pass em at 100. at 115 they couldnt keep up to me.

now they spent all that money and they couldnt outrun an almost stock SOHC 4DR civic w/ ~96hp to the wheels?? The money they spent could have been put to better use on their cars. Hey i know my limits and the limits of my car, its fun to roll with someone else on the highway but crazy to think u gonna take vipers and vetts in an econo box.

BTW my fist love car was the Z until i found out about the 240. I like the classic datsuns though, hmmmmm carbs......................

Maximus nismo, I couldn't agree with you more man. Its guys like that who give hondas a bad name. They really are great cars, not better than 240's, but they're just a lot of fun to work on. But its like I said, fun to WORK on, slapping on some rip-off body kit with no name rims, cutting the springs, and covering it with stickers is not working on it as I've heard countless rice boys refer to what they've done to their hondas. and then they run around saying that their cars can hang with (get this) Na 300zxs and supras, one guy actually said a 3000GT VR-4, even though the guy just had a fuel rail, pulleys and some muffler he bought at pep boys, and they justify it with statements like "the fastest fwd in the world is a civic". Just makes me sick man, people like that should be beaten with the neon tubes they put on their cars and locked in a dark closet. They just completly sucked all the fun out of having a civic, now I can't tell people that I have a civic without them automatically assuming its rice. just sad when you think about it. I pray the same won't happen with nissans.

First, How are civics fun to work on? You can't do anything in that excuse for an engine compartment. Not that I dislike Hondas, they are economical, reliable and attractive cars, all of them, and I would love a 5th gen prelude or an NSX...Second, rice is something you eat.

I do respect the many cleanly done, fast civics out there. The civic can be a nice ride. But the fact of the matter is the majority of civics out there are riced out. And there are so many out there on the road.
