look at the top of the black nub that sticks outa the car. The top is a ring with 2 small holes, put a narrow pair of needle nose plyers into these holes and unscrew it, turn the radio on and it will pop the antenna out. look behind the trunk lining for the motor an the plug for the antenna

I also replaced the one on my hatch and really had to force the little two hole cap to get it to turn. After many years it tends to accumulate a lot of dirt and/or corrosion....try to spray it with WD40 or something and be prepared to replaced the antenna mount if ends up damaged....I did the same to my other 240 (1991) and the piece came off really easy....who knows???

You should be able to get to the motor from the trunk. You probably need to remove the plastic pieces from that area. The motor is in front of where the OEM scissors jack is.

Mustha, take the panel on rear drivers side of the car......this is the only way you can take the assy off. If your new antenna is the complete assy then you need to take the complete old assy. If you got a new "just antenna piece" then you can use the old antenna assy and screw from the top....if design to fit the nissan mount......

That could be the problem if you have an electric antenna and you have bought one to replace a manual one. The manual mount would be missing, no way to screw it on.

Anyone think snap-ring pliers would fit perfectly in those two little holes to get the mast out? I want to replace my broken power antenna with a nice shorter, manual one that i can push down (instead of going through the trouble of removing it and fiberglassing the hole)

My antenna stopped working after it was iced up all winter. I had some free time so I was working on it a few weeks ago, and all I can say is that after I was barely even able to touch the assembly, I just gave up and put the trunk back together. Radio still sounds normal, even with no extension, so it is not very high on my fix-it list.Actually, I got the motor out of my old 240 with only removing the trunk trim, I wished I remembered how I did that (was a while back.)

I bought the little ebay black one to replace my OEM, works , looks good and it will fit the OEM mount...Is cheap too$$$$... I bought the inside element to fix my power antenna on my other 240 and it does works but it was costly $$$$

Yes , a needle nose will also work, but if you force it, you will need a new antenna mount......
