Anyone out there done an Output Shaft swap? Have an RE4R01A off an Nissan Xterra 4WD that I intend to use in my J30. All specs for the transmission are the same. The only differences I've seen are the Rear Extension Assembly, Output Shaft, and Wire Harness Connectors. Hopefully the swap doesn't require a full disassembly of the transmission...

Thanks,

Chris

Straight bolt on is the RE4R01A from the Pathfinder. I believe the Xterra is slightly different and may require some customization.

Completed the output shaft swap. Not as difficult as I thought it might be. Modifying wiring harness now and hopefully everything will be work!!! Will post details on the swap once everything is complete.

The good news is I completed the output shaft swap with no problems. Modified the wiring to accomodate the J30 trans. harness connectors. The bad news is this. The Turbine Revolution Sensor mounts to the Torque Converter Housing on the 2003 Xterra RE4R01A. On the J30, and probably all of her contemporaries, this sensor mounts on top of the transmission case. My solution - or actually T3's - is to go with a low mileage JDM unit and get back on the road. I'll crate up the new RE4R01A and store in my garage for another day. I'll compile some photos of the trans. swap as this might be helpful for someone else.
