re-using head bolts?

hey guys, i was just wondering if its ok to reuse head bolts? my friends boss said that the tend to elongate over time? am i supposed 2 torque it a lil more? any input would be appreciated, thanks

You have to measure them for stretch, it's all outlined in the FSM.

I don't suggest it even if they are in spec. The metal has been fatigued once.

arp bolts are only like 100 bucks. its comptetly worth it for the reasons that nismo stated.

I bought the ARP bolts and they dont fit......too short

don't recommend reusing it. most fsm says not to reuse oem head bolts. get ARP. where did you get your bolts from ericherm1? never heard of this problem before.

Is this the right kit?

If so could someone fill me in in how to use a 6" head bolt on a 8" head.

Reusing them is fine for SR20's. Compare them to each other, if they are all the same none longer they are usually fine. You can reuse them multiple times if they are not stretched. ARP studs are good but harder to work with.

Ok, I just got off the phone with ARP and they told me that the company that I bought these from sent me the wrong kit. The kit they sent me is a Main Stud Kit.

The proper kit for the Head Studs is:

ARP102-4701NISSANSR20DET HSK*
