I just bought a white faced-gauge SE gauge cluster from a '97 SE 240 with 150,000 miles on the odometer. My car is '95 with only 80k miles. Anyone know how I can set back my odometer? I unscrewed all the screws but the digits wont move. . .

There is a thing on http://www.howstuffworks.com that shows how I think. You could try running it past 999,999 and then 80,000 more

The principle in that movie really LIKES kids, ewwww! creepy!I'm sure they didn't really wreck a Ferrari but I feel your pain. Remember the F&F when they killed the one Charger the Dukes of Hazzard didn't jump, bastards.

JOOOYYY! My life is complete! A new F&F movie. That thing cracks me up, true genious. Monty Python's "The life of Tareto".I will wait for it to come to the Japanese theatre, I love watching the gullable Japanese buy the crap on the screen, it's like two comedies in one.

Goddammit,

I was so pissed when they wrecked that Cobra-R in the trailer. Don't get me wrong, I love my 240 more thasn any car i have owned, but i still respect the Mustang. My roommate and I both had 5.0s till we blew them up. Anyway, i just had to vent. Why do they always have to blow up the bada$$ domestics and let the gay*** Civics and other rice-mobiles live? RWD blows away FWD any day of the year.

I belive there is a little clip inside that will keep you from turning it backwards but It shouldnt be to hard to hold it back or something to turn it back. Get like a paper clip or something that might work

Remember that rolling back past the mileage on the car is a federal crime. That being said.

If you completely remove the speedometer from the cluster you can partially remove the rod that the numbers roll on and roll it back. Then just snap the rod back into the forward position and you are good to go.

yellow jacket has the right idea, except dont take the numbers out! I just did this on a 91 cluster, I assume the workings are the same. The number stay where they are, there is another rod infront of the numbers that control the rolover, you cant move the numbers because of the white sprockets, if you have it apart you know what im ranting about. You have to take of the white sprockets and just turn the numbers to where you want em. Dont try to run it back manualy, I started using a drill but that would've taken days.

Take off the white sprockets and line up the desired numbers, make sure the sprockets line up the same when you put em back in.

do you think maybe I could switch out the numbers on the gauge clusters? would that still be a "federal crime?"

sorry to sidetrack everyone. I have the same problem with the 280KPH speedo I put in the Skyline. I kept the original to show the guy who buys the car the original Klicks. I would leave the new one alone, you might damage it trying to jimmy it.

sorry for bringing this up again but last post on this thread i promise :rolleyes

i most likely am just going to keep my regular odometer cause of the federal crime thing but anyone think it'd be possible if i could wait until i run my car(with 80k miles) until it matches up with the 153,843 miles and then just swap it out? i'm not rolling back anything :rolleyes

Just don't roll it back past the 80K that the body of the car has on it. As long as you don't do that you're ok. It's actually very simply to do once you get the cluster out.
