OK, SO I HAVE A 89 S13 KA24E, AND WHEN I START THE ENGINE IT WILL TAKE TO LONG TO CRANK AND THEN HAVE AN UNSTABLE IDLE WHICH IT WILL EVENTUALLY SHUT DOWN, SO I HAVE TO GIVE IT SOME GAS TO REACH ITS 700 RPM IDLE BUT STILL WILL HAVE AN UNSTABLE IDLE AND SOMETIMES IT WILL SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I DIDN'T HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE, I'M NOT SURE IF THIS HAS TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT BUT A COUPLE DAYS AGO I DEGREASE MY ENGINE BAY CAUSE IT WAS SO DIRTY AND ALMOST COVER IN GREASE MAYBE WATER OR THE DEGREASER GOT ON THE ELECTRONICS OR SOMETHING, BUT STILL NOT SURE IF THIS HAS TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT. SO LET ME KNOW WHAT COULD IT BE ASAP THANKX NICO FORUM!

Older engines like your 20 year old KA dont agree with water at all, when you washed down the engine water got in and your car is bogging down. It happens to me all the time when its raining (Half the time I dont even bother trying to start it when its raining). Your problem might be diffrent then mine but its sound exactly the same, just let your car idle for a couple of minutes before actually driving.

Pardon me, but where are you saying this water is going?

Anyways...the only place I could possibly think that washing the motor down would change anything would be the spark plugs/boots/distributor/coil pack. Check all of those connections, and pull the plugs and clean them off..

Do you have a check engine light?Try revving your car past 2500 rpms if it cant then you fried your MAF sensor. It also sounds like you could have a vacuum leak.Or you got water in the combustion chamber, check your spark plugs for water or look inside the cylinder and look for water.
