You may remember, six years ago I took my dad's Honda across the pacific northwest and did some sightseeing. It was interesting to write about this car again, as I've come to appreciate it even more as time has gone by. It's also depressing to see what's become of Honda.

Pics and details and such are in the link.

My first car was a 1990 Honda Civic DX hatch. I loved that little car. I still have the keys to it after all these years. A friend rear-ended me and totaled that little thing.

My wife works for Honda, so we will be getting one soon.
Free fuel, no insurance or registration costs.... I'll learn to live with it.
I can only pray she manages to get a Civic type R, but will probably end up with a Euro Accord.

Did you go to the Saturday Market Jesda? That last picture is the Lovejoy plaza/fountain and it looks like there are stalls up. If so, you came on the right day it seems.
f*** love Portland.
Also...the first time I go to fill up when I'm in a different state, I sit there at the pump for a couple minutes waiting for the damn service person to come fill up my damn car. Only to feel like an idiot once I realize that you barbarians pump your own fuel.

I honestly can't remember what exactly I did in Portland that day. I've been back to the city so many times I've forgotten what I've done at each visit.

I do remember spending New Years there a few years ago: I went to a thing in a warehouse with a lot of loud techno and lasers and weird people flailing about like they were possessed. Talk about being a fish out of water.

And what an awesome city

I had a 94 EG hatch (Si). Great car.

Sold it for WAY more than KBB when 3 prospective buyers showed up and got into a "bidding war" in my driveway...

But is has no airbags! How can you feel comfortable driving something without 500 lb of airbags all around you? And what about traction control? What about navigation? What about the poor pedestrians who walk out in front of you?

They end their lives a quarter of a mile at a time.

I had a 1990 DX hatchback. 5 speed. Loved driving it except in the snow.

My first car was a 1981 Honda Accord hatchback (which was only slightly bigger than the EG hatches IIRC); still one of my favorite cars to drive- easiest stickshift ever. If I ever find another one that isn't rusted out, I will buy it.

I miss my 94 hatch.... I shouldn't have sold it but it broke down on my while I was in the middle of my 240s 5 speed swap. I bought it as a reliable daily and it failed. If i could do it over again I would have kept her but I did sell it not running for more than I bought it for a year earlier running fine.

I'm ecstatic you got this site up Jesda!

I am totally getting a Honda as a beater/winter/daily depending on the price of the Miata I get.

They're much more interesting to drive than a Camry/Corolla for a A-to-B car anyhow.

Rad.

I want a Del Sol as a runabout. I have tons of EG/DC/Del Sol parts lying around. Suspension, 4x100 wheels, a Mugen steering wheel, extra MAFs, etc. It's coming out of my ears.

Corolla's are horrible a-b cars unless it's between timing gates.

I use to own a base model 1990 Civic CX H/B with power nothing. Other then a penchant for going through alternators every 2 years, it was bullet proof, with rust only being its krptonite. It was a little unnerving travelling on the highway on the basic 14 inch tires, passing semis. It was a lot of fun with all seasons in the snow. You could power slide in snow covered parking lots. Somwhere around 2000, Honda lost its way.

Aww missed that. Dam, its a Teal Green one too!! That is exactly what I want. The GF hates that color, but that just means she cant drive it. She cant drive stick anyway, MT that is.

One thing thats ugly, heavy, and slow besides an RX8 is the Del Sol.

Indeed. The Del Sol is way up there on my "ultimate commuter cars" list.

If your definition of an a-b car is dependable, decent gas mileage, and gets out of its own way, Corolla fits that bill. I had an '80 Corolla Liftback SR-5 with a 5 speed for several years. It was not sporty, but it was nimble, reliable, comfortable, 30+mpg and blended into a crowd. A nice little commuter car.
