In my opinion it would be a good move for developers to re-release their series in a pack for different systems.

I would really like to see Rockstar release all the GTA's in a giant pack for the x360. Even if it was just from GTA III I would still be happy. A maybe $80.00 pack consisting of GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Vice city Stories, Liberty City Stories, and GTA IV all on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

This would give gamers a chance to get games currently not in production or new copies of old games that got scratched beyond the point of being playable. I would also like to see a Gran Turismo series pack for the PS3.

A Half life (or just all around VALVe) pack consisting of Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Decay, Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, Episode Three (when It comes out), Lost Coast, Garrys Mod... now that would be epic.

Any series you guys would like to see re-released?

With the economy the way it is I can't imagine Rockstar doing what you propose, despite it being such a huge potential draw. The new packaging and production of other physical materials is money better spent on developing new titles. San Andreas is currently available as a download on XBL. Electronic distribution makes more sense from a financial and logistics standpoint.

That being said I'd love to see the old Wing Commander series see a new life either on XBL or even on the PSP. Since its a flight game it would be better on a big screen. And LucasArts needs to get off their fourth point of contact and bring Tie Fighter and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter to the consoles. Baldur's Gate, the old Ultima series and Ultima Underworld would be some other titles title that would be great on the small screen. I had high hopes for a trend like this to start when Nintendo put the original Zelda out for the Gameboy, but it never really caught on much.

I think a lot of the newer titles that players would like to have another crack at purchasing could actually be purchased through a combination of searching from alternate sources (eBay, used book &game stores) and some patience. Older PC titles are harder to come by but the ones that I'd personally like to see re-released. Certainly the graphics are of lower quality but in almost every case the storytelling is superior.

I would love to have the opportunity to purchase some replacement discs for non-working copies of games I already own though. That is a STELLAR idea.

I'd LOVE to see a Metroid collection for DS (on a single cartridge). Ideally it would consist of:--FDS Metroid (used game saves upon death like Zelda instead of passwords)--Metroid Zero Mission--Metroid II--Metroid II remake (using the Metroid 3 engine)--Metroid 3--Metroid 4 (even though it's an abomination)

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the crap Nintendo hasn't ported Metroid 3 to a handheld yet. It's an AMAZING game that would sell like crazy. They should have done that back in 2002 instead of Metroid 4.

I would also like to see a Kirby compilation for the DS. However, unlike Metroid, I think the gameboy Kirby games are best left in their "lesser" state rather than remade to be shinier. It'd have:--Kirby's Dreamland--Kirby's Dreamland 2--Kirby's Dreamland 3--Kirby's Adventure (NOT the graphically updated Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland...the old visuals with the old intro and the old minigames are so much better)

I'm looking forward to Nintendo's Wii remakes (not re-releases, though) of Metroid Prime and Echoes. They'll be updated with Corruption's Wii controls and probably better visuals.

I wish Valve had done a better job with Half Life: Source. They didn't even use the High Def content.

GTA isn't old enough or hard enough to find yet for me to care about re-releases for it. The Xbox box set is not hard to find in good condition, and you can still buy ALL the GTA games new for the PC (you can even get the original 2D games free from Rockstar's website).

The big question for the devs would be how much do they stand to profit from it? Keep in mind that these would have to be ports. The PS3 does not support BC in all their models. The 360 has BC on most popular games, but I imagine there might be legal complications is the game is emulated (would technically be an XBOX game, not an XBOX 360 game; and a 360 game would have to meet certain requirements to be eligible for licensing). And of course, if MS doesn't provide BC for the particular game in question then it would defintely need to be ported.

Either way, it would not be a simple matter of putting the games on one disc and releasing it. Some investment of time and resources would need to be put forth to accomplish this. And most re-releases in that of themselves probably won't have a large amount of sales. There is a reason why old games sell for so cheap. It might be feasible for some games, but I doubt it would work as a source of profit for most of them.

Backward compatibility.Since games like the GTA series can still be played on the 360 thanks to backward compatibility, there's really no reason for the developer or publisher to update them.

There's very little cost to continue publishing the classic Xbox versions of those games. But to bring them up to date to run natively (with need for an emulator) on the newer hardware would require time and money. Especially since MS charges a licensing fee for games released for their consoles. Why pay it again when the Xbox version is already ready already?

Getting back into MUCH older games, though, the appeal of re-releases increases a lot. Nintendo has been going crazy with re-releases of SNES-era games. I just wish they'd tone down the updates. I want to play the game I remember, not a "modernized" version.

No one said anything about my Gran Turismo idea...

When GT5 finally comes out it would be perfect!

They should really do it because they probably have nothing better to do... I highly doubt they will start working on GT6 any time soon.

IMO GT6 Should come on 2 or even 3 disks and have every car and track from past GT games. Add more modification options (painting our cars anybody?) and customization settings. Maybe stadium races? Or even like in NFS ProStreet (I know I know) where for certain events they would provide you with a car so everyone was even.

Since the GT games are incremental improvements, I don't really see the point in that one. Why would I play GT2 when I have GT5?

Eh, the GT games aren't nearly old enough to have nostalgia appeal for me yet. Half Life isn't even nostalgic for me yet...it's just another great game I still play.

I don't so much want a re-release as much as a remake...

I would love it if Square-Enix would remake FFVII into modern graphics....

Hell YES! This I've been wanting since I saw that proof of concept video at E3 on the ps3. But I sooo don't want them to mess up the game like they did on that horrible, HORRIBLE, HOOOOOORRRRRRRRRIIIIIBLLLLLE final fantasy 7 advent children movie.
