I love my '06 M35X . There are a lot of paint chip marks on the hood and both bumpers have scratches and chips etc. The color is liquid platinum

I am looking into having the hood and bumpers sanded and refinished. What I'd appreciate is a quick course on how to choose a paint shop. MAACO is not being at all considered...

Can the bumpers and hood be re-painted and still "match" the body? Any recommendations in the greater boston area. Does the clear coat need to be baked? Any other tips and your opinions would be welcomed.

I was thinking of the same thing; the hood on my 2007 M45 Sport has chips and a big scratch in the clearcoat. was worried that just painting the hood might not match. Mine is Obsidian black.

I have the exact same problem on my black M35 - clear coat is all scratched up. Think it was taking it through the car wash place, but I can't prove it, so oh well...

I did send some photo's to a body shop here in town and they quoted me $550 for the hood and a deep ding on the right fender that goal all the way to the metal (the perils of all highway driving i guess...). Admittedly, I was just going to also call the dealer and use the body shop they would normally use thinking this would be the safest bet for a match.

I'll keep you posted on how it turns out, now that winter is over, I'll get it done this month. I assume it'll just take a day or two.

I needed to have my rear bumper repaired and repainted. My car is Ivory Pearl (white) so I too was concerned about the paint matching especially the clearcoat/pearl. I took my car to a place which had positive reviews (Yelp.com) and had a lifetime warranty on repairs/paint. They had my car for 2 days and the paint matched perfectly! The owner of the shop showed me my car in the sun and in the dark (different lighting) to show me how the paint and pearl matched. The only thing I had to do was not polish/wax my car for a month.
I may be taking it back to get my front lip done since there's a few chips on there that bugs me...

How much was it if you don't mind me asking? (for the rear bumper)

For the repair and paint job, it cost me $430. The left side of my bumper had some minor scuff marks so they patched it up.
