For any turbo, it depends on the condition of the motor. I would do a compression and leakdown test. If they come out fine, odds are the motor will handle it easily, regardless of miles.

Boost it till it blows.

No serisouly, with proper tuning a good stock bottom end will hold up quite well, as long as you take car of the car and keep it in tune.

proper fuel and ignition is key. With that you can take a stock engine pretty far.

yeah you could do what he said or get a SR or something. I dunno, 170K seems pretty high to start boosting. I'm not all gung ho about SRs anymore, but it would set you back to 30 or 40K miles again. The nsport turbo kit is around 4 grand or so and I hear it takes months to actually receive it, BUT its the best one out there you can find from what I've read (240 rwhp!). For that price you could have a SR purchased and installed, but thats with little to no mods. The turbo KA would be a lot faster, but then again you wouldn't be going anywhere if the engine couldn't handle it:rolleyes .

that sounds good. If you have the money to build up the bottom end then by all means go for it, your car will be madd quick by the time you've got everything in there. I'm not sure where you can get those internals. As far as getting a new KA, just post a WTB thread and you'll get replies. Lots of guys swapping SRs have their KAs lying around that they'd love to sell cheap.

I have an idea for ya...basically what I did when I started boosting Skylines. Since you know your gonna buy a turbo kit with or without the built engine. Your also gonna have to buy a fuel system and what not to support the turbine kit. All of which are swappable if the engine goes tits up. So install the parts on your current machine and tune it up. If you make any mistakes and blow up the motor. Drive down to the junkyard and buy a new DE for a few hundred bucks. The upside to this is that motors make mad power when you run them really lean. Like just before they pop...heh. I went through alot of RB's that way. But it sure was fun. Oh, but I get them for 150 bucks...heh...just had to rub that in a little.

the nsport is overpriced.. its just a turbo, manifold, intercooler, and FMU. intercoolers dont really go bad, as long as they visually check out, you can save TONS by getting a used one. manifolds are cheap, get a jgs one. you can piece it together yourself for 2K...

That's what everyone would love to be able to do, but unfortunately that's not always the case. You can fork out the $4,000, install it and be done with it. Or spend $2,000 plus all the time researching, gathering parts, fabricating parts, headaches, and be proud that you pieced together your own kit.

If I had a project car, I'd do the latter. But for my daily driver, I'd rather just buy the $4,000 kit, slap it on, and call it a day.

Yeah, too bad the Nsport kit doesn't cost $4000 when you buy it from us. We sell them at $3495.

how in the world do you get 400 miles per tank?? This is a 240? I think everyone else here gets 270-290 by fill up time. Do you mean 300? If that is the right number tell us your secret!

why are 400 per tank so hard to believe? im talking like 400 wether its at 80 mph with the a/c on or driving just around town. everyone i know around here with a 240 and also in ATL all get around 360-400 easliy. one time on a trip to ATL i filled up before i left and didn't get gas agian until i got home. i was sort of cuttin it close but i made it and i think its like 220+ miles each way. i have a 95 S14, 5 speed, nothing done to increase fuel mileage.

Last time I checked, I got 330 miles a tank with 1/2 highway driving, half city driving. This is in So Cal, the only place where it takes you 2 hrs to drive 5 miles.
