Hello everyone.

I haven't posted in a long time. So for anyone who cares, here's my story. 2 months after I swapped a CA18DET into my S13 I went to replace the water pump and noticed that the crank had play in it (crank walk), so I stopped driving it. Ended up buying an S2000.. then I wrecked it. Ever since the wreck the S had been a huge headache not worth $500/month. I traded it in on a Kia.. yes you heard me right. I needed something for A to B driving that I won't have to work on. Something that would let me have my hobby back.

Anyway...

Since the purchase of the Kia my insurance and car payment dropped substantially, leaving about $400 a month budget for my 93' coupe. I just bought another block along with polished factory rods, pistons, cometic head gasket, ARP head studs, aftermarket main/rod bearings (came from a local guy that started a different project). As of today the block is at the machine shop. They said that its already bored 1mm and that the cylinder walls have less and half a thousandth of variation. They advised that it may run hot being bored over that much and recommend that I bring them my other block to assess the potential damage on it (hoping that it isn't already bored).

I have a ton of questions but have yet to search the forum for answers, so I will get to the questions once I do more research. I would post pics of her but my hard drive crashed. I will take some more soon.

Thanks for your patience, I thought of posting this in the newbie section but I think this is somewhat appropriate since 90% of my research and discussion will be in this section of the forum.

Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions that will help save cash and keep me on the right path.

I’m really just looking for something fun to drive. I’m not trying to break any records or stomp any torque heavy muscle cars. 15 psi or less, 250whp would be righteous.

Get an SR T25 or a T28 on there, and you'll be Golden. No major build up for those power goals. Just do a nice basic rebuild and you'll be good to go.

You can make 250whp with a t25g? is that with some super tunning? Do you need to do any porting or special inter cooler setups (water or mounted in the engine bay with short straight pipes) to get that? back cut valves and valve seats? cam gear changes to get the best exhaust scavaging possible? maybe light weight drive shaft, pullys, flywheel and clutch? with a perfect exhaust manifold with a waste gate with great flow that rejoins the exhaust right before the cat at a good angle? maybe a little timing advance. and water spray?

I've seen video and dyno charts of a stock fuel system and bottom end, with a T25G setup in England (running on I assume pump Shell 100 octane) making right at 250bhp. I assume some serious timing advance and stellar tunung. So it can be done. i need to get my car dyno'ed.

You can do all that you listed and feel very good about that hard-earned 250whp, or you can do a stock rebuild (I would prefer with some forged pistons for propriety's sake) and slap a GT28R on there with appropriate mods (450s, Z32 MAF, eManage tune, 3" turbo back, FPR), and VIOLA! 275whp. With that turbo, I'd like some mild cams. Something like "step 1", 256* equivalent HKS or Tomei Pon cams. That way, you can really utilize the top end potential of that turbo.

So, you are looking at...what...$3500 if you buy all new stuffs. Super. That's my roadmap.

Also, I agree with the above stated. PICS OR BAN.

Very nice. Not sure about the two tone, but the underhood shot is sex.

Nice. I thought most coupes came in 2 tone. Although, S13 fastbacks with a black roof are my preference.

I wish I could do a color change but I don't wanna go through the trouble. I will probably go with solid pearlescent white, or white R-M Carizzma Flat Paint by BASF.

Is anyone using a bored over CA block? If so, do any of you have overheating problems?
