(Re)Installing lower driver side molding

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi all, new to the boards. I need help/advice reinstalling the lower driver side panel molding on the driver side. I can't seem to snap it back into place properly. I have the left side back in but the right side won't pop back into place, something doesn't seem to be lining up correctly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you talking about the thin chrome strip on the outside of the door? Well, without seeing it or understanding why it was removed, I would check to make sure all the clips are still intact (if that is what holds it in place) and make sure the holes are not plugged, oh, and maybe make sure it isn't upside down? What else could it be?

It's the lower dash panel under the steering column. The story to why the panel was removed is; my wife's key had a dead battery so she inserted it into the slot in the lower left hand corner to start the car. Problem was, she forgot to put the key back into the key fob before she inserted the key resulting in the key getting stuck in the slot. After trying a number of different things to try to remove it, I thought I might be able to get it out by removing the lower panel and seeing if I could access the key that way. That didn't work. What finally worked was taking a pen and reinserting that next to the key to remove it.
My issue now is that the panel doesn't seem to line up just right and won't snap back into place on the right hand side. I was trying to find a diagram to make sure I was lining everything up correctly, but haven't been able to find anything. Everytime I push it back into the slots, it just pops back out, so I'm thinking there must be something that isn't fitting correctly or something underneath isn't lining up correctly.
Thanks for any help and feedback!

Were you ever able to get this panel re-installed? I am having the same problem - I have been able to get the right side to pop in, but it won't stay in and pops back out after a few seconds. I can't for the life of me figure out what might be preventing it from staying snapped in...
