Do you Think the B/S/T forum outline should be changed? post yes or no AND why u think that way.

I think that our B/S/T forum outline needs re-working...i know that our paying sponsors arent getting much business even tho that beautifully large/ colorful /makes-me-have-to-reload-every-page-more-than-once ads are on the left side of the screen. I also think the b/s/t system in general needs reworking. maybe more like Zilvia.net's setup? with a FS/Trade section, a WTB section, and a Group Buy section. i know im not being very helpful on how to re-work the whole ad deal, but there has to be a better way....

btw, im not a fan of the group buy section of 240sx.org, it needs dates on the main page with a brief description of the updated vendors like simply putting "11/27- EnjukuRacing- exhaust/clutch" (<---example only) i dunno, i just feel it needs change.

-DanDo You think the forum outline needs to be re-evaluated? Don't forget "why"

Agreed... too many cliques are forming, not enough diversity and surfing going on.

just like the nice Audio/security forum, some ppl have tried to bring more ppl there, but its just not in a place where ppl remember to look...then they ask the questions that belong there elsewhere.......

if a forum is completely dead for a period of time, that forum needs top priority re-working....IMO

yeah, i agree. Maybe we should put more effort into moving threads around?

It helps when members own more than one kind of nissan but that isnt the case most of the time. :)

Another part of the problem is, google. Type "240sx" in google and you get http://www.240sx.org which leads right to NICO. type in any other nissan/infiniti and you dont get NICO anything. I admit that i found 240sx.org using a search engine. Maybe if NICO bought and set up some domains like 240sx.org to draw more audience off of search engine we would see other sections grow.

I think it needs a well thought out forum layout... right now we have entirely too many forums. It's hard to moderate, and it's hard to find posts.

Actually, we're about 2 weeks ahead of you guys.

NICO is currently moving (again) to an even bigger server. This one will be on a par with the REALLY big corporate websites, and should house us for years to come.

At that point, we will be revamping a few things, and that is one of the top priorities. Bear with us, we're a little slammed right now - But it's gonna be SO damn cool when it's done! :D

p.s. Great suggestion!

Ok, somebody help us out....

Everyone, for the most part, understands the way VBulletin works I think. How there are forums, with subforums, etc. We can make unpostable sections, such as "NICO General" that has subforums that *are* postable ("General Chat," "Infiniti General," etc.).

For anyone serious about this, work on a forum structure for us. Please include the entire forum structure. You can email submissions to me, or simply post them here. When we get a few different structures, we will have a vote and then implement it. What do you say?

Please remember to incorporate a place for everyone. For instance, don't leave out the Infiniti guys, or a place to buy/sell things, or a place for general ramblings.

With that said, let's see what you guys come up with. Just to let you guys know, I came up with the current structure, which obviously isn't all that good. But heh, you don't really know until it's implemented.

I think NICO General should be renamed to just general or off topic or something of that sort and 240sx general should be combined with technical so that only questions pertaining to 240's goes in the 240 section and off topic stuff goes into nico general. right now we have at least 2 or 3 off topic "general" forums.

i really like it, its almost exactly wat i was thinking, i think next to the test forum should be a 'vouch' forum for members. and you can only post once per item bought from the seller. and i also think that the suspension and audio/enter. forums should still be their own sections bcuz of the wide range they cover...

I put Car audio and susp under NICO general because it appllies to all nissans and infinitis If we were to have a 'body work' or similar forum then I think that those three things could be grouped together. Just putting them as big main sections wouldn't be good i think.

Also perhaps the Infiniti SUV and the Nissan SUV/Truck section could lead to the same place? This would be stated under the forum link so that newbies doen't get confused. Also the Infiniti I30/35 and Nissan Maxima could haave the same deal

Also :D , the articles need their own web page

And an idea sponsors. The Sponsors could in a sense sponsor different forums. THe cost of sponsoring a forum is directly related to how much traffic that forum gets. Forums with more traffic could have several sponsors. An advertisment could appear along with the forums name in a well done banner in between the header and the posts. That advertiser would also be mentined in text after the name od the forum on the main forum page

I should probaly create a sample for that idea

yeah, good ideas, narrowing down, thats wat i like to see, but regarding audio and suspension being their own topics, its no diff, than wat we have now........ i just think it'll give them room to grow that way if they get enough activity, like have under suspension 2 sub forums "Wheels/Tires" and "suspension/Brakes"..... just an idea..... we jsut need to tidy up everything else like u have already so kindly designed a plan for:) so now all we need is to have it implemented.

i also think they should put the KA and RWD SR forums back in the 240 section, and likewise for the other motors, like it used to be, there was more activity. and likewise for the other motors to their respective car forums.

I like the one big datsun section. Though we still need more members with datsun's.

to draw datsun members you need to pimp nico in the vintage shows. not the park meets most of you guys attend.

As far as the forum lay out from my stand point I have my user control panel set up so I am subscribed only to the forums I am interested in so it shows me the forums up top and the threads I am active in. this works very well for me.I have addapted to the new lay out very well. But I do agree with the engine forums. I feel they should be removed from the main forum page as individual forums and somehow linked to the appropriate vehicles they go to either by factory build or typical alteration after the fact.

I like LTJJ's idea.

A couple minor changes, but that's actually the way it's gonna look.

Like I said, give us a week or two to do all the server changes and whatnot (we're still finishing up some changes to Member's Rides and upgrading the functionality of the individual pages) and we'll be rockin' these suggestions!

Good work y'all.

can i please make a request, going on wat kaioshin says, lets make a video/pic forum...i really want a photography section...maybe a subcatagory under "Entertainment/security?" like this....

-C)Car Entertainment/Security/Electronics--1)Audio/ I.C.E.--2)Security--3)Photography (post your ride/Show your photography skillz)----a)NICO Meet Pics Only--4)Videography (for all those races and donuts u want us all to see!!)<--by request

hmm.... I dont know if photography and videography belong under the stereo section.

Perhaps a multimedia forum for photography and videography combined. I would definately hang out there. The reason I say combined is that I dont think there is enough stuff out there for two seperate sections. We may get 1 home video a week and 1 random car video (redline, drift bible) a week. Along with all the posting of peoples members rides pics and a few huge photoshop threads that could be moved.

And there is definately not enough traffic to warrant splitting Security and Audio. Perhaps we could have some general threads about wiring and general electronics (how to prevent a catastrophic fire, see 'hownot to install nitrous ;))

-1)*NICO General--a)General Chat (off-topic)--b)NICO Meets--c)Car Audio / Entertainment / Security--d)Multimedia (Photography and Videography combined)--e)Tires / Wheels / Suspension / Brakes--f)*Shopping Mall----i)Looking to Buy----ii)Looking to Sell / Trade----iii)Group Buys----iv)Showroom----v)Vendor Reviews

works for me, but i think we should have that multimedia area, cuz i know how much i enjoy taking pictures of my buddies' cars (some of u may have seen the honda or BMW pics i took...) and i also shoot video for the KC area DTM club, i would love to talk about that kind of stuff with other members.

How about a g20 section? g20.net recently got taken off-line, and they need a new home :(..

..more importantly, we need an off-topic section. Since there are so many off-topic posts in general forum, we should make 1 off-topic forum, and 1 war forum(for debates and stuff :))
