Re-Doing Window Tint

Got a sweet deal on a butt load of window tint and want to re-do my current tint. This is what I had, (really old pics)Then 5/0 told me I needed to remove it from the front windows at least, and I still have tint on the quarter glass.

If there's anything I can say I'm good at is putting tint on. I've did it at least a dozen times one summer.

My question though is about the black surface around the glass. I was wondering if anyone has removed the black specks around the edge of the glass.

I personally think it might make it look even better and they don't appear to be hard to remove and clean up. Seen it done once and was wondering what you guys/gals thought.
