CAR: '95 240sx MILES: 101,xxx

car won't start because of a throttle cleaning? whiskey tango foxtrotheres a timeline of it:

1. removed intake/ unplugged maf sensor/ all hoses

2. cleaned tb with carb cleaner

3. removed 6-point engine grounds cause i felt like it.

4. reconnected all intake/ plugged maf/ hoses

5. took it out for a spin...5 mins later, it took a crap. threw a code.

6. symptoms include: stalls/ dies at idle, idles below normal, won't rev past 3000, if i try to WOT it, it'll bounce from 2-3k back and forth back and forth. engine jumping around violently

7. unplugged brake booster to run some seafoam, idle jumped up to 1200 when open to air, of course the idles went back down when pouring the seafoam. reconnected multi-grounds.

8. ran it for half an hour, still idling rough. white smoke, the usual.

9. next morning, won't even start. crank-no-start situation. seems like an ignition problem but, i cant get the car running to check for spark. It'll crank though. Not an electrical problem, radio/lights/everything still comes on.

10. might've flooded it trying to get it to start, smelled fuel under the hood. no fluid leaks underneath the car after 2 days though.

11. took out a couple plugs randomly (#1&4). both had black tips and smelled like fuel. you know what that means...

ignition problem

-plugs replaced less than 10,000 miles ago. (Autolite Platinum)-plug wires were replaced around the same time (Accel)-replaced the rotor back in October. (Bosch)

I posted this in the KA section as well. Someone said "sounds MAF related" so, I went out and looked closer... white wire completely broke off the plug with no chance of repair. I hit the junkyard, bought an SOHC MAF + plug and it still doesn't work so, that kind of narrows it down. Of course it might just be a sh!tty MAF since it was sittin at the junkyard with the hood up and its been raining but, I air-dried it and carb cleaned the outside dirt and oil, not the actual wire itself. I blasted air at it.

I ordered new plugs(NGK Iridium IX) and the front O2 sensor(NGK/NTK) just in case. we'll never really know what happened until i scan it though. I should just get a dis. cap but, I doubt thats whats wrong. its gotta be something deeper.

someone help

refusing to rev really does show the maf is mixed up in there somewhere. try blowing the cyls out and let them dry up some. then fix the maf problem. after all this i would see if she ran ok. if so, pull codes on ecm. also note that oem plug wires, cap and rotor would be a good idea.

check the maf, make sure you didnt blast the hot wire apart with carb cleaner, and just fwi: you use electrical parts cleaner on that sort of thing.

plugs wet with fuel means that it is dumping gas into the cylinders.
