Seeing as how their are no more Gold (1990-1991?) Master, Valet, Wallet and Security keys can we re-cut already cut keys? Could metal be melted on to the cut portion then be re-cut off to accommodate the key cylinders?

Now this is not cheap but those of us part of this board already know what were in for. :)

Not sure the OEM keys were EVER gold,I believe the trump card at g50 introduction was the use of titanium master key, same as the 1990 300zx.

Here's a 24k gold master key below.

I got my buddy Tony to plate this one along with some other parts. He plates a lot of interior parts on personal jets.

This shouldn't be hard to get done at a reasonable price around any major city in the US. I'm sure I can get him to do more if needed.

Owner CS I knew you would chime in... Are any of your original Q keys gold or semi gold in color?

One silver and one had a light gold look.. I always thought the "golden girl" original owner had the key gold plated like she did the cloisonné hood ornament, door handle trim, and other original chrome items.

They never came gold from the factory, although some of them took on a little bit of a goldish or bronze patina.

I think it would be far easier to have your door and key cylinder rekeyed to match whatever key you had vs. trying to add metal and then recut a key. I've certainly never heard of recutting a key before.

Could that light gold look be recreated by a gold plater?

Finding a complete key set is more rare than a 1990-1996 Q45 with a OEM battery cover!

It might be better to be 18k or 14k as 24k is relatively soft compared to 14k..

Thats what I am looking for, I know it can be done but at what price?

And yes before anyone asks I am making a wooden key case because the original plastic one is no longer available. :(
