Hi, I am new to this forum, and a new owner of a second hand, but awesome 1990 240sx. Ok, just started noticing that the clutch needs to be replaced because when I give the car gas it revs high, but not enough power to wheels. Also, noted that there is a grinding sound when decelerating in gear. Not sure if it is the fly wheel or if my synchros are shot. What is a good way to check this. Why is it that my car no longer has any real acceleration in first and second? How can I check if it is my trans?? Thanks in advance.Bobby

I am not sure about the grinding but the fact that you have no acceleration has nothing to do with the transmission. If it did would would not move at all. The clutch is probably slipping. If it is the OE clutch from the factory then most likely it is the clutch. As far and the grinding goes the only thing i can reccomend is changing the transmission oil. I had some problems with my second and third gear synchros shifting really rough. I change the transmission oil using red line MT-90 and now my trannny shifts smooth as silk.

Hope this helped
