Last night I lifted the motor up into the chassis with the custom x-member extensions I've made... looks like I'm in good shape!

I took it back out and will shape them up a little bit since they are currently in "test fit" condition... I'll take pics and whatnot when they are ready to go back on the car.

I haven't made the upright braces because I want to see how much clearance is still needed for the hood to clear with my setup.

Just an FYI post...

Thanks... yeah the project is going really well. Very very close now...

I didn't get a chance to work on it last night... it still needs a turbo cooling line and oil feed line hooked up before it goes in anyway. I have my oil feed fitting with AN-3 adaptor on its way, so now I need to fab up the line itself.

I should have pics of all this next week... along with the Kei Office XT-alpha suspension pics since it should be in next week!

Well... nothing really has happened since I posted about this last, but I have taken vacation days from work from tomorrow through Monday... so we'll see what kind of progress I can make on this project this week. The Kei Office XT-alpha finally were shipped yesterday after a 2 month wait, so they should be here this week (car doesn't roll to well without it since the old footwork was scrapped).

I'll keep an update going... wish me luck!

Ok... so now the mounts are together/welded and welded to the crossmember. The motor is sitting under the car and the car has been lowered back down around the motor (those who've done the swap know what I'm talking about). Tonight it should be going up and getting bolted in... I'll try and snap some pics of the mounts before it goes up if I can get a camera.

Well, the motor is in now... and it could not fit much better! I am very happy with the extentions, and it looks like mine is lower than RBSpecialFin's by a little bit (he used the R32 X-member). The shifter is about as centered as can be without putting the back of the block in the fire wall... so I really could not ask for much better... got it on the first try... sweet!

No pics as everyone's camera was either dead or no memory stick... I'll get them asap!

Instead of using a mount kit or the R32 x-member... I built my own extensions that moved the mounting location of the KA member forward so that it would accept an RB (like the mounting kits).

The cool thing is that with just these and stock vertical braces (parts that bolt to the motor)... the motor sits lower and further back than the R32 x-member. However, it is looking like I might have to cut some of the hood bracing... but this is not certain yet (but likely). The adaptors I made that move the mounting location are 1/4" steel, so that added a little vertical movement but not to much.

How much below the x-member are people's oil pans that have used a mounting kit? Mine is almost if not entirely flush with the x-member (should give an idea on height). I will try and fit the swaybar soon to let everyone know how/if that fits with this setup.

Please excuse the really really dirty car... it will be cleaned when it gets back on the road.

Just an update... fitted the swaybar yesterday with no clearance issues. Seems these mounts are a success! I need to get a camera and take some pics... I'll do it when I can...
