so i have a RB30 block thats been rebuilt and using a r33 RB25DE head

i have a greddy front facing plenum. front mount intercooler.bov.38mm wastegate.headers.3 inch exhaust.custom td06 25g turbo w/ 4 inch intake.

cars a r32 running r32 ecu (chipped --- was chipped for 20det :( i see this as the problem but seeing other opinions also)

the problem is its strong to drive..lots of torque..drives fine off boost (at 0 or under on boost gauge) but as soon as it starts to get any boost (only have 5psi spring atm) it just falls flat on its face... it has no trouble making boost pressure .. but it actually goes slower on boost than it does off boost

is running red side fed injectors

i am wanting to get purple rb25 injectors and a rb25det ecu just to get it running so it can actually boost

it feels like its retarding timing or something to loose all power

any ideas if i need to fix something ??

the plans are to at the end of it have some large injectors (750cc or bigger) and a road tuned ecu map and a z32 afm... but as for now i just want it to be able to boost even if only 8psi !!

if anyone needs any more info just ask and i appreciate feed back !!!

Homework assignment for you is to install an A/F sensor kit, such as an AEM, Zeitronix, etc. This is used to check your Air/Fuel Alphas as you have no clue as to what they are. Could be running rich, could be running lean, no idea. Also think of it as a good insurance policy so you can keep an eye on how the engine is running, which at this point, is obviously very poor......

I'm a bit surprised that you chose to install a DE head on a larger displacement block. What was the reasoning behind your decision? Was the head free?

Your problem is probably the "chipped" ECU. You need to be running a standalone with datalogging ability to take advantage of all the money you've spent on the mechanical side of this setup. And an wideband is a must on every "tuned" vehicle.

Get an AFX wideband ( best there is for the price). Get a proper standalone hooked up to it and a proper tuner, this sounds like a complete tuning issue to me, and the fact you have nothing on it the monitor a/fs is just crazy. I wouldn't even drive it until you do what was suggested above.

had the same problem with my sr20det before nistune, hooked up nistune made some minor adjustments and it felt like a new car, faster and stronger than ever. sounds like tuning for you as well.

ok was wanting some real answers instead of fit a wide band LOL.. its runnning rich .. can tell via the black smoke and flames etc

anyways have a road tuner who is going to tune the ecu via eprom emulator and software.... then once done write to a chip and stick in the ecu..

going to use 25det injectors just to get it running properly for now...then later on look at big injectors.z32 maf etc etc
and tuner will be using wide band ...

ecu is switching to knock maps and going rich and retarding timing

No offense, installing a wideband is the real answer. How can you have a COMPLETE hybrid swap/install, with after-market upgrades, running whatever is on the "chipped" ecu, and expect it to just run PERFECT out of the box. Anytime you mess with anything on these things, a wideband should be the first purchase. Why risk a somewhat pricey and rare "build" and just keep driving it, with no way to diagnose or find the problem with just looking at some voltage values and basic maps.

The first step to finding any problem is to diagnose the problem. A wideband is not only just a monitoring device, but also a diagnostic tool as well. With knowing when it it running rich, how rich it is running, etc, can help you to tune your ecu to where it needs to be.

Take our advice, get a wideband, and go from there......

Seriously, this is retarded. We should not be trying to convince you to spend $300 on a wideband...You can't rely on a theoretical tune unless it is super conservative/rich and then you risk washing the rings and oil out and causing engine wear. But you wouldn't know that was happening because you don't have a wideband.

That's like going to the doctor for a heart problem and saying, meh, I don't think I want to pay for the EKG even though it might diagnose something to save your life.

And running stock injectors will not get you far. 20% more displacement takes a lot more injector duty under boost. I would be extremely careful how much boost you run. If it were me, I wouldn't get into boost PERIOD on that turbo with those injectors and no tune! :wtf2:

hmm i came accross on the wrong foot lol.. i wanted to know what was happening to the car.. i never said i wanted it to just go pure mint with a chip tuned for a 20det??

i am getting it tuned and it will be tuned with a wideband like said above so im not sure why your saying that at all
