Well my RIPS motor spun a rod bearing. Anyone have oil clearance and toque specs for a rb30?

cause my life sucks.
No indications. One possibility is the mckinny external pickup in the pan was too small for flowing of the tomei pump, but i doubt that. It uses 12an which is like 15.5mm ID vs the oem of 16.02mm Again, i doubt that was the cause. Crank is at the machine shop getting polshed and miced. it appears to be micing out ok but the rod was .0008 out of round, so i would imagine the crane would be too. We only have dial calipers that go to the thousandths and its hard to check it for out of round with that.

Yes, but he didnt supply the oil pan (mckinney, and the tomei oil pump I had).
You can look at my build thread on hybrid for pics

I didn't know you were ZT-R on hybridz. Sorry about your motor, that really sucks.

2J's are great motors, but good luck coming in on a budget if you want a good 6spd transmission.....

Clutches seem to be obscenely expensive too.

R154 isnt as expensive... 2Jz is a better motor, but most people don't need the potential as the RB motors have proven reliable to 1000 horsepower

Should have bought a comp clutch... i paid 1050 for it and its rated to 600 ft lbs
Buying an already built RB30 from the most recognized guy in the RB30 world surely wasn't going to be cost effective...

Building it yourself with the help of a reputable local machine shop is the only way to go IMO... not to mention cheaper

I wasnt invisioning ever rebuilding another one again. thats was the motivation behind it. It was only slightly more than a few other shops quoted me anyway, and he has the blocks and all that ready to go. One stop shopping.

Yes, it may be cheaper. But Rob does stuff to the RB30s to prep them that your local machine shop may not know or do. Trust me, Rob doesn't publish everything he does to his blocks. Doing this would put his engine selling business out of business.

Paying more is sometimes the better option IMHO........

And in regards to this specific engine failure. No one will ever know the exact cause of failure. But to say the least, it was definitely oil supply related. Rob's fault, I don't think so. But his name is obviously on the engine, so people are going to blame him first.

No the block is fine, crank has been polished and is micing out ok. .00002 of taper is all we could find.
