You definately have a lot of searching to do.

Yes, you can use a RB25DET head and retain VVT. There is a modification needed to get oil supply to the VVT, but it's very easy. It's outlined in the RB30DET section of Skylines Australia.

The RB30 bottom end is very durable, no worries there. I changed pistons to forged to get the compression ratio I wanted, but the rods and crank can take way more than you'd ever throw at it.

Read EVERYTHING in this RB30 section if you are serious. It answers any question you would ever have.http://www.skylinesaustralia.c....html

Where did you pick up the rb30 bottom end at? I was looking at putting 26 crank in rods in my block. but instead im looking at spending the money on the 30. After it was all said a done was it worth it honestly?

i havnt purchased one yet but im trying to find out if its worth it to find a block and pay alotta $$$$ for it or if its better to build a rb25det bottom end. as far as i can tell its worth getting the rb30 if you can. the problem with searching is you hear alot of this works and this doesn't, then the next thread says the oposite. i read you cant use vvt on the , but you obvesouly have it working on yours.

pirate87 used to have bottom ends but I think he sold all of his.

VVT works if you know how to plumb it. It isnt hard, but u have a lot of lazy people who just delete it. It is pure internet rumor and regurgitated misinformation. After being on SAU or any other web forum, you learn who to trust and who to ignore.

IMO, higher displacement will be worth it if you add cams and valve springs to help the head flow more air since it is only designed around a 2.5 or 2.6L block. Definitely get an RB26 head if you are starting from scratch and have a choice.

Here is the exact thread which explains how to retain VCT without external oil feed lines. I know it works because I convereted to this after having run external lines and having them leak. This keeps all of the oil internal, and VCT still functions. It's entirely too easy to not do (if you are using a RB25DET head)

Was it worth all the issue you faced when building the rb30? i have a rb20 s13 and im about to pick up a 97 240 and i just cant see myself swap my rb20 over to that body even though it makes good power. Im going rb26, rb30, or a ls2.

Cool motor, sounds badass, more torque, way quicker spool, conversation piece, tons of potential, and added more value to the car than it cost me. I'd say it was well worth it.

$1,000 from Pirate87. I can't remember if that was shipped or not though.

Yeah, here it is.zer...a-nap

Ignore the external oil lines in the build thread, I later removed those and went with the internal oil mod.
