I'm wondering the same thing myself, when it comes to either an sr20 or an RB25det. have not decided which to get. go to sportcompactcarweb.com and look for tech articles. there's one there on doing an RB25det swap into an s14 chassis. That should give you at least a rough idea of what all is involved. I can't imagine the swap being much different for an rb26dett.

Swapping the 26dett into any 240sx is not an easy swap and isnt for the budget minded. The mounting process has be somewhat simplified by Mckinney Motorsports using their RB mounting kit $1200ish or so. Wiring for the setup is a nightmare, probably being the hardest of hybrid 240sx/RB/SR swaps. But considering the few people that have swapped over 26's, I would assume they are running a standalone ems, so the wiring would be much more simplified.

FSM's for US 240's are easily obtainable. There are also copies of the FSM for the rb26dett around on the internet. After you get those 2 you might be able to give it a shot.

Do you have about 10k? If not.. stick with the stock motor or an SR.

It'll take about 9-10k to do it RIGHT. The wiring is a *****.. but you can pay Mckinney to do it for you.

Trust me, I'm doing it and it's taking me longer than I wanted. Waiting on parts sucks. You need to search the forums too. Questions like this are rediculous, and if you've never done a swap before and actually wired engines in, this isn't for you. An SR or KA-T is better.

If it sounds like I'm trying to deter you, that's because I am. What do you need an RB26DETT for? Is it because you want more than 500hp? The TT is an EXPENSIVE engine to modify... and 99% of the people who ask about doing the swap don't have what it takes to do it, nor do they need to do it considering you can make killer power on 4 cylinders with less money.

Just my 2 cents. I myself may cancel my plans and stick with the KA...it's taking me way too long to get everything going for the swap. I'll be able to make 500hp on the KA easier than the 26.

I agree with nameless. I cost me 9450 just for an almost stock motor. with the exeption of a 630$ spearco IC, and a couple of other small parts . But then I saved money buy converting the car to rhd and not the mounts and downpipe from Mckinney. which was a pain in the a-s-s, but just my time rather then $$$. then goes the oil pan. Another pain in the a-s-s that does not "just bolt up". If you have 10g's to spend and know your stuff, go for it. If not, nore your have a suger-mama or good luck.

Yep, RB26DETT is the sexiest Nissan engine alive, but if you've got to ask how much, then you probably can't afford it....

geez ppl, mckinney motorsports sells the mounts, the rest should be easy, tho the wiring is hard, companies make'em, its almost like dropping an rb25 just with TT's that almost hit the steering shaft, it has been done, check undergroundmotorsports for their rb26dett swap.but as far as money wise......yes it can be expensive.

i think once the motor is mounted to the chasis, a standalone EMS would make life easier.
