hes right. and then you have to get an auto transmission with it, because it does infact cost an arm and a leg. good luck peg leg.

hes exaggerating. if you can get the hook up on an engine and parts, it would be cheaper.

just keep saving your money till you reach that point where you have a lot of cash and are like...wow i can get a fully built SR for this crap and reach my goal of 350hp easily. then just go that route.

edit: youll probably wanna go SR too for better weight savings for drifting.

I'm in 8,000$ on mine. You don't see it completed yet...

If you're a nOOb, do some research. Gather a parts list. Find the wiring info.. cuz that's gonna be the tedious ***** part. The rest is bolt in if you've got your parts ready (mounts/driveshaft etc).

Check the link in my sig. I made a list for people who want to get the idea of this swap.

It's seriously not easy to do this unless you've got 10k sitting around. If you're saving up for your RB26DETT dream... you're better off going KA-T or SR.

Most people can't do this swap. I know some peeps who like to talk about doing this swap all the time.. they don't have a clue what it takes. No one does untill they start preparing, buying the motor/clip, transmission, clutch, all that jazz. Time consuming process.

But yeah.. if you're a nOOb and you want to dedicate yourself to doing this.. then go for it!! We need more RB26's in the community.

Is 10,000$ more than $10,000? Or is that more like k10? Or 10k? Or maybe $10k?

See how the devil is in the details? You get your RB26 swap going, thinking it's only going to cost 10,000$, but it turns out that it costs $10k.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

the clutch is dependant on the wether the transmission you use is push or pull type.

lollerskates, I paid 3,000 for my R-33 GT-R engine and transmission, traded the transmission for a Power FC and FC Commander, bought an RB25 transmission... shop said that they'd install the engine and get it runnin for less than 2. Wow... thats still under $5,500 for me...

however, I got lucky and bought the RB26 + transmission and the seller thought it was an R32 one.... well it turned out to be an R33 one with 15,000 miles on it. Woot.

you are a very rare exception, you do not count in this discussion. for the average person its very easily a 8000+ $ swap.

Yeah, I totally realize I got extremely lucky. I totally had a feeling I might have gotten screwed on this deal. Seeing other engine sets (especially ones from McKinney costing 8,000 for motor, transmission, wiring harness, all belt driven accessories, etc. But their's are freakin spotless.... beautiful engines) going for much more than I paid for mine, I had a feeling the guy was lying.

He told me he had an R-32 GT-R RB26 and transmission, belt driven acc., wiring harness, and stock ECU for 2,900 bucks. And said that the engine had 23,000 km's on it. I immediately was like "Sweet! How much!" he goes "2,900" and I immediately was like "whoa... is he for real?"

Upon inspection it looked like a good engine, nothing that looked like it was beat on, abused, nothin. I asked him about the warranty, and he immediately said "Hey, lets see I can ask the owner and get you a 2-month warranty on it, instead of a 1-month." I go "How much is that gonna cost me" He goes "Oh.. hell its free." So then I thought he was sure of the engine and transmission being good... finally a break for my mind... ended up getting the extra month startup warranty free, which.. the first warranty was too.

Get it home, start to pull the transmission off -- thinking its the push type R-32. Call my mechanic and he says "Uh... you sure? ......it might be an R-33 transmission..." turns out, it was...

When I arrive at the shop with the engine, still had skeptics of the engine being a 33 engine. Mechanic goes over it and says "...thats off a 33... thats off a 33.... thats off a 33...." and calls Sean at RBMotoring and tells him the number on the block... turns out its an R-33 engine too!

Awesome.

But yes... I got extremely lucky, the dumbass that sold me it didn't know what he had.

Sorry so long, but you guys get the idea. Be very careful when buying an RB. Sometimes you get more than you payed for, sometimes you get less. Try to always inspect the engine and transmission before you buy. Me? I drove 5 hours to pick it up and bring it home to save on shipping. So if you can, do that.
