Ok pulled the motor out of my clip and i went to do a compression check on the motor and the starter wouldent engage the flywheel. so i pulled the starter apart cleaned it and put it back together still wont work. the problem is that the gear on the starter wont come out to engage the flywheel. any help would be great

Your siliniod is bad. The gear may turn the the siliniod that pushed the gear out is done. Youll have to get it rebuilt unless you want to buy another used 26 starter.
